I'm mostly friendly and outgoing, with strange little pockets of WASPy self-deprecation and shyness.
But my public demeanor can be in the drag queen range, especially when with my louder or more colorful cronies.
I'm very straightforward, a little odd, and tend to accept a lot of differences in my friends. Politically I'm very left of center and feminist.
I love glitter and dressing up - it's great if whomever I'm with likes those things too, whether they're wearing a snappy retro suit or something involving leather.

What I’m doing with my life
Having been caught up in the great economic adventure that's been
such a delight for us all lately, I've been freelancing for my old
employer (I'm a business researcher by training) but, like a lot of
other people, I'm considering going back to grad school. The funny
thing is, I think I might actually be excited about it too. Well,
the idea of more student loans is scary, but you know, the whole
knowledge thing is pretty cool.
Oh. and I want to learn to hula-hoop, too.

I’m really good at
I don't if I'm particularly good at it, but it turns out I really
like dancing - I've only started taking dance classes in the last
year or two. I love tribal belly dance. So I
guess being willing to look fairly silly in a class with other
people who frequently have a lifetime of dance training does bring
me back to what I'm *definitely* good at: that persistence thing.
The first things people usually notice about me
Sarcasm and honesty. Not always the most attractive traits, and
definitely ones that I've tried to rein in for the sake of tact and
kindness.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Starting to list favorite books would probably get me into some
sort of OCD frenzy, so let's just say I like to read a lot and
prefer variety.
Music - what catches my ear: old LA punk; jazz standards (Sarah, Dinah, Billie, Nina); have heard some Malian music that's really amazing; have been listening to Hank Williams Sr and some bluegrass lately.
And Big Mama Thornton is stunning.
Wagner makes cranky though.
Movies - depends on the mood, doesn't it? I could make a case that "All the President's Men" is one of the great movies about democracy (plus it's about research geeks), but I did also pay full price to see "Die Hard 4".
Food - yep, it should be good. Pretty broad tastes, although I don't care for sea urchin much. I'm wary of people who are scared to taste something new.
I appreciate when people cook for me, and will happily do dishes!
