I'm just as content with a lazy Sunday morning in bed with coffee and the Times as I am going on a hunt for adventure in the city.
New challenges and experiences thrill me, so when opportunity knocks to try something new and different, you won’t hear me complain. Anything goes -- from a trip to Rwanda to trapeze lessons. I’ve jumped out of a perfectly good airplane but have yet to ride a roller coaster. The next challenge I have lined up is the 2014 NYC marathon. I've seen a fair chunk of the world (a lot of it solo), but the itch is always there to see even more. Care to join me? Say hello!
By day, I direct the communications department at a social policy nonprofit.
Movies: True Romance, anything Almodovar, Casablanca, David Lynch, Stealing Beauty, Big Lebowski, Lucia y el Sexo, The Sweetest Thing.
Shows: I don't own a TV, so most of my consumption is binge-style via Netflix. Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Rachel Maddow. I will always be an X-Files geek.
Podcasts: Slate Political Gabfest, On the Media, Planet Money, This American Life, Freakonomics, The Moth, TED Radio Hour.
Music: A bit schizophrenic (and somewhat dated... help!) My "Favorites" playlist on Spotify includes Nine Inch Nails, Florence & the Machine, Buddy Guy, Pearl Jam, Lamb, Sam Cooke, Mumford & Sons, Jane's Addiction, Tricky, The Cure, Modern English and Bjork.
Food: Former vegetarian who now eats anything, from bone marrow at Blue Ribbon to tacos from the truck on my block. I spent some time in the restaurant industry here in the city and enjoying its culinary adventures is one of my favorite things. Also, the friends I made in the industry are some of the best people in the world, hands down.
Wine: Chenin Blanc, Gigondas, Bandol, rose from Provence... I like small producers, organic and biodynamic stuff, anything imported by Savio Soares.
- The promise of spring
- One lazy morning a week
- Running outside
- My cat (I grew up with a house full of pets - home isn't truly home without one)
- Language in its many forms (written, spoken, musical)
And a bonus: wine.
I'm looking for someone whose quick wit and curious intellect allow for those conversations in which we may find ourselves lost for hours, yet whose fun and playful sense of humor is always close at hand.
