My self-summary
Polyamorous, creative gentleman happily married to the wonderful "Vairumati."

If you make art of any kind, I'll want to see it, and will actually show up for your performance or read your book. I'll probably understand it and then tell you exactly why I thought it was awesome. On the other hand, if you identify primarily as a fun-haver, I also respect the crap out of that.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a writer with several books, none terribly lucrative but each a beauty in its way. One is about ancient philosophy; one is translation; one is poetry; and my new one is about ancient poetry. My PhD is in English & American lit, but then I learned Greek and got into Classics. My new field is psychology.
I’m really good at
Writing, acting, painting, making comics, and, um... listening to cute people articulate the myriad interlocking nuances of their inner lives.
The first things people usually notice about me
My jawline is good & hard and I'm six feet tall. Supposedly I look younger than I am, which I guess is nice. I look Jewish because I am. There's always a book in my hand, and another eleven in my bag. My posture is good and I can dance, sort of.

The six things I could never do without
Shakespeare, persimmons, coffee, a hovercraft with my initials on the rear view mirror in tiny silver lettering, and one of those blowguns they use in Borneo. I really love chowing down on piping-hot barbecued ribs but could, in fact, live without them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sex; poetry; theater; kale; Peak Oil and climate change; that there is a world at all, rather than nothingness. Oh, and Schopenhauer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I voted for Nader in 2000. And in 1996.
