I have lived in San Francisco for almost 10 years. Previously, I found living in Boston less than perfectly cromulent. So, in the chilly winter of 2003, I left there in a Miata that my former boss sold me for a tiny sum as a parting bonus and drove around the country for 9 months seeking snow, sun, and good times. This took the form of snowboarding, visiting friends, checking out cool architecture and national parks, hiking, camping, backpacking solo in the Sierras for a couple of months, and mainly just camping around and looking at stuff and talking to people.
I found the greatest number of smart and funny people in San Francisco, so I stayed here.
While that extended trip was really fun, my life has a more steady and urban center. I work and spend a whole lot of time with my friends; I go to the gym, do yoga, go running, and am generally really active.
