My self-summary
Hi, I just moved to Hawai'i early last year! I feel like I'm becoming rather acclimated to the culture here but I'm sure I can be shown something new :-)
I am very energetic and work out 4-6 times a week. I like to consider myself an adventurer and love to try new things. Most other people think of me as slightly eccentric.
Yes, I am technically inclined; no, I will not fix your computer (okay, I probably will if you just ask nicely).
What I’m doing with my life
Perpetually trying to save the world... I was working in an electronics lab (mostly for Department of Energy projects) but felt like I wasn't involved directly enough, so I joined the Army (in '09) as a communications parachutist.
I’m really good at
I am referred to as a "walking encyclopedia". I enjoy playing pool (including competitively, but can definitely play casually). I have a passion for building/crafting almost anything (from robots to macramé). I love all sorts of music and the arts and will try my hand at most of them as well as observe (I used to host & run a weekly open mic night and would definitely do it again if given the opportunity). I have a lot of survival training and if the SHTF in a big way, I can disappear like Big Foot.
The first things people usually notice about me
Those few who still speak to me say it's my goofy sense of humor and vast wealth of knowledge on nothing useful. I like to think I can blend into the background if I can just keep my mouth shut...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This question is kind of odd when you haven't owned a TV in several years.
I love stories that mix the personal and political side of the characters (such as the Dune series of books or the Gundam anime series, and recently, Game of Thrones). I also have a couple Godzilla characters tattooed on me and plan to get more. I guess you could say I'm a big fan of the symbolism in that series.
I read a lot of reference material. Not so much for work, but because I'm always looking for something new to get into. I will read up on random fascinations of mine to familiarize myself initially.
I listen to a lot of heavy metal and industrial music, but I still enjoy hip-hop, electronica, classical, pop, jazz and most forms of rock.
I don't get too picky when it comes to food, but I do love lasagna.
The six things I could never do without
I have "gone without" in most aspects (even survival ones briefly) so it's hard to say. If I must choose:
1. challenges (as a wise man once said, "Come git some!")
2. freedom of expression (you can dance if you want to!)
3. socializing (sure, I know how to survive in the wilderness for extended periods of time but no human interaction eventually makes me very sad)
4. sleep (I can only go for 48 hours without it before I start seeing crazy shit)
5. results (I'm known for going off and getting them if they are not around)
6. a muti-tool (it's not that I always carry a knife, it's because I always carry pliers)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How things work and what they are made of (seriously, some people do a lot of drugs to see the world the way I do). I also try to step outside of myself to really understand my actions and motivations on things (I swear I'm not on drugs).
On a typical Friday night I am
I am a rather active member of the "drinking club with a running problem" (yes, the Hash House Harriers). Go ahead and Google it, it's a lot of fun. I've become so involved in it that I've become a regular at their Friday socials. So yes, I'm usually doing something around town.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've had a vasectomy. If you're looking for someone to start a family with I cannot help you.
You should message me if
Ready for the elimination round? Here it goes, don't message me if:
Your sole idea of recreational activity is getting drunk and/or smoking weed. Get a hobby or just try to do something with your life.
You make the pouty lips (a.k.a. "duck face") in your profile pic. Enough of that crap already!
You're not okay with casual, open dating. I'm not going to B.S. you or anyone else; I haven't dated monogamously since 2005 and that's the way things work.
You're extremely shy in public places. If I can't take you anywhere without babysitting your awkwardness, I can't take you anywhere worth while.
You're consistently late to plans and events by several hours. This will gradually drive me insane.
You don't have a sense of humor. I will gradually drive you insane.
You don't have a job and aren't going to school. How do these people even exist?

Some people spend their entire lives looking for their "perfect match"; I'm just trying to form the ultimate team for Cranium. If you want to be friends then great, just hit me up! If you have similar goals and different interests, even better! I like to explore places I haven't been before and can always appreciate something new.
Finding a place to try exotic food and chatting on life and other things is one of my usuals. Likewise for going to a place with a few interesting drinks behind the bar. I do enjoy taking a well-dressed woman out to a nice place to dine (even as friends) and yes, I know my ego enjoys that more than it probably should.
I plan trips almost completely on the fly. If you're weary of all the "TBD" stuff in the schedule I encourage you to take a leap of faith and try it out once.
