My self-summary
Greetings reader and potential significant other, you are reading the profile of me, Morgan. Upon reading you may come across interesting facts about me; my unerring loyalty and dedication, my love for good movies (and good bad ones), even my brutal honesty and literal understandings.

Who am I? I’ll tell you. I am me, with an array awesome, a dash of debonair, a handful of handsome, a scoop of sarcasm, some chips of chivalry, a widget of wit, and a grouping of genuine. I am a culmination of growing up in Alaska, living in Washington, and embracing science and technology. I love the outdoors in all of its glory, I prefer the cold, snow makes me happy, and I live to learn.

I am a gamer at heart. My preference is first pen and paper, then cards, then board, then video games. Even today, while I’m slowly losing faith in gaming and the gaming community, I won’t say no to busting out a game with friends, talking smack, and having a good time. Gaming is a past time, not a ruler of life.

With much of this profile centering on me, and who I am, it must also focus on you, reader, and who you are. Interests and knowledgebase take second place, behind compatible mindset, thought process and logical deduction, in the race of who I’m looking for. Differences are opportunities to learn and to teach, and similarities are chances to nerd out and break the bounds of shared interest.

Being genuinely natural is always nice; looking and acting how you want and how you deem necessary. One who believes in function over form seems to be a rarity in the world these days; plus points for ignoring the shitty media pressure. Live life how you want to, but being healthy, both physically and psychologically are important to me.

Having a logical mind, one with common sense is also important. I would like to find someone who has the smarts enough to get out of trouble (and knows when to get into trouble). I would like to be with someone who can look past their own biases and make decisions on what is required. If it was the zombie apocalypse and I was bitten, I would want my partner to end me, and not hope for a cure to come in the 11th hour.

I’m also interested in why. Why do you believe in what you believe in. A dumb person will believe what they are told, an average person will tell you what they believe in, and a smart person will tell you why they believe. If I’m going to be with someone, I want her to be smart.
What I’m doing with my life
One of my grand plans is to go back to school in 2012, for a degree in Physics (following to the PHD level). Being a researcher or teacher isn’t important to me, I want to know as much about physics as possible. I’m a firm believer that a life without learning is a life not worth having.

Until the point of stepping through the gates of college again, I work in Microsoft Xbox, on the Kinect project. It's an awesome project, with even more awesome co-workers. It will be a sad, sad day when I leave.

Here are a couple of things I do on the side;

I am a member of the SCA, the Society for Creative Anachronism. It’s about creating a living history of the medieval ages, with contemporary ethics. To me it is about wearing armor and fighting other people in armor. It is much safer than it sounds, and most of the injuries are superficial bruises. My current projects is making armor and practicing fighting.

The other major hobby that I follow is brewing beer. Even though I don’t drink a lot of beer, especially when at home, I find the science behind brewing astounding. Did you know that alcohol is bacteria excrement? The big project I’m working on is building a kegerator coffee table.
I’m really good at
I am the person people open up to. I don't know what it is about my character, maybe my philosophy of no bullshit gossiping, that flows outwards to tangibility. I’m one of the good guys, although I would like to think of myself as an anti-hero.

I'm a pro at card games. Not the poker style card games, but the rummy style... and hearts, I am a badass at hearts. With card games, I'm a pretty good hand at most board games.
I have a sharp eye and steady hand, which comes in good with my crafting skills.

I win at mercy. Test me in this and you will know defeat.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m a hat guy; there are some that would not recognize me without my hat. There is a reason why I got a nickname “crazy hat guy” at work. In the winter, you will find me wearing my grandfather’s World War II wool long coat.

What else? Hmm… I would say that I am the most laid back and chill person, but I haven't met everyone. This especially comes through in my mannerisms after I get to know people, as does my wit and sarcasm.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A reader I am, just as water is wet. I am on a constant reading binge of the latest news on technology, Nikola Tesla, and my favorite authors. My favorite authors are Neil Stephenson, Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore, and Jim Butcher. My favorite books are Good Omens, and Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff Christ's Childhood Pal.

I am an avid movie watcher. I prefer the action dramas, older comedies (Peter Sellers, and Jon Cleese are favorites), and psychological horrors (none of the gory melodrama bullshit that’s in new-age 'horror' films). My favorite movies include, but not limited to; Layer Cake, Snatch, Ink, The Usual Suspects, Devil's Backbone, and The Orphanage. With favored shows being; Firefly, Eureka, Futurama, Burn Notice, South Park, Reaper, Dead Like Me, Torchwood, and the Stargate series.

Who would have thought that a series of periodic sine and cosine functions would create something that can grip the heart and sway the mind? I love classical music, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky in particular. After classical music, my favorite band is The Protomen.

If you can make an awesome burger or steak, we can already be friends. Currently, the best burgers I’ve found in the Northwest are at A Terrible Beauty, and the Wilde Rover. Pasta is the second favorite, tortellini's to be specific. The simplest meals are often the best.

Even after living in the Seattle area for a few years, there are always new places cropping up that amaze me. There are also the tried and true places of awesome, such as Beth's Cafe, The Northlake Tavern Pizza House, Cinebarre, and Juneau AK, only to name a few.

Be it in movies, games, books, music, or any other medium of being or entertainment, my favorite genres/themes are steampunk, cyberpunk, Victorian, post-apocalyptic and pulp.
The six things I could never do without
Here is my answer in all seriousness, for if you ask a literal or stupid question, you shall receive a literal or stupid answer; A heartbeat, oxygen, food, water, shelter, neural synapses.
A more realistic question would be “What are six things (concepts, objects, ideologies, people) that mean a tremendous amount to me?”

Imagination – without it, I am only a shell of a person, a flat empty blade of grass in the green field of a golf course. With imagination, I am an unstoppable force of the mind.

Good Company – Friends and family, people who I care about, people who care about me, and generally people awesome to be around. I would rather be around a few people that are good company, then many people who I don’t know as well.

Great Atmosphere – Similar to good company, I prefer a location of character, a fitting, welcoming and genuine atmosphere. I much prefer the pub scenery over a club, an old style movie theater over a top-of-the-line IMAX 3D production.

Music – Without music, this would be a very dull and bleak world. I don’t care what music people like, but I feel that everybody should have some appreciation of music

Evidence - Quoting Isaac Asimov; "I believe in evidence. I believe in observation, measurement, and reasoning, confirmed by independent observers. I'll believe anything, no matter how wild and ridiculous, if there is evidence for it. The wilder and more ridiculous something is, however, the firmer and more solid the evidence will have to be."

Internet – From researching my hobbies, to learning what is going on in the world, connecting with friends and family, reading about the newest technologies that are coming out, and playing video games.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend my time thinking about the things that any sane (possibly even insane) people think about; my future, my hobbies, my friends, my family, sometimes what to say to the attractive female that’s reading my profile.

What is the future of mankind? Do we follow the path of an Orwellian future, destined for a dystopia, where everyone is blind to the atrocities that happen behind closed doors? Are we careening to a zombie apocalypse, where we have to fight to live? Is a true utopia our future, without war, poverty, where we explore technology, science, and space? And how can we learn from our history to not make the mistakes that were made?
On a typical Friday night I am
Defining typical as reoccurring, my Friday nights rarely change. Either I am wearing armor and fighting, or I am making/repairing armor to fight in. On Fridays that I’m not doing this, I will probably be found at a friends house making a fool of myself.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm left handed. Not very private I know, but it gets me into all sorts of directional problems. I get left and right confused all the time. It's almost funny when I'm driving and friends are giving directions.

In any form of competition, be it debate, sport, or game, I’m extremely sarcastically competitive, even more so if I’m losing. It’s all in good fun

Let’s see...nope, can't think of anything else off of the top of my head. If you ask I will answer, even if the answer is "I'm not telling". I dislike unanswered questions, even if the answer is negative.
