I am a Monopoly champion, an amateur rockstar, and a suspected wierdo..

My Self-Summary

Sometimes I get in my car and drive, destinationless, so I can sing at the top of my lungs without disturbing my housemates. I love that bit at the end of that song by Panic at the Disco, where it goes "I´m a diva!" I click my fingers every time. I also like songs with whistling in them. When I feel sad, I blow up a balloon and write all the good things I can think of on it with black permanent texta. Then I can play with it when I get bored. I like the red ones best.

People who talk during movies annoy me. My favourite kinds of movies have subtitles. I like anime and Midday Movies. I identify with Harriet the Spy; I feel like that movie basically plagiarised my life. I have a lot of theories re: the internet sucking out my brain, and the government probs surveilling your FlyBuys card so you´d Better Watch Out. I also have a lot of theories that are more plausible, but I don´t like those ones as much.

Some days, my favourite thing to do is to get up early, shut myself in my room, and study ´til midnight. Most of my days are not like this. I am a serial procrastinator. Used book stores are like the promised land. I bore people to death with this observation every time I visit one/drag someone into one, which is often. I consider this to be doing them a favour.

There is a cricket that sings outside my window every dawn & dusk. When it wakes me up in the morning I make a resolution to go out and step on it when the sun is finally up. When it starts singing in the evening it makes me smile. This is pretty much my approach to people, as well. I left home to reinvent myself, only to discover that I liked myself just fine the way I was.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I like angry indy-girl music that makes me nostalgic for the nineties. More recently, I enjoy Ida Maria, Soko, Laura Marling, Mercy Arms and Sparkadia. I like going to gigs but hate getting my shoes stepped on.

I enjoy reading. Like, a lot. I will read anything as long as it's well constructed. Mostly I appreciate a well crafted narrative, rather than sticking to literary fiction, or - God help us - anything on the Top 10 Bestseller list.

I think of TV like chocolate: too much and your brain gets flabby. Regretably, I'm addicted to America's Next Top Model. I like movies about spies, movies where things explode, and movies with aliens. Things that no movie should ever be about include: sports, mid-life crises, kids who save the day.

I like crazy theories, pop culture and random facts. I am intrigued by the esoterica of computer networking and programming languages, and other things I know nothing about. I'm trying to learn the guitar but basically suck.

The six things I could never do without

My bookshelf. Orange juice. Sunshine. Nice smelling shampoo. Thrift stores. Shiny things.
