I am uncommon, spacey, and tattooed.

My Self-Summary

I always think that writing these things are a bit odd. In regular, everyday, face-to-face interaction people tend to have a certain amount of disdain for those who talk about themselves too much. But on the wonderful world of the web it is seen as a flag of concern if an individual does not share personal and intimate details about themselves with the general public. Odd? Just a thought....

On to the personal and intimate details. If you can't tell so far, I am one of those who like to think about things... a lot. Everything. All the time. That kid that asks "why?" about everything doesn't stand a chance when faced with the amount of "why?" that goes through my head. But not just "why?"... "who?", "what?", "where?", "when?", and my personal favorite, "how?".

Anyways. I like music, movies, books, and all that cal. I work as much as I can. I try to explore and create as much as possible, and consume as little as I can. All of my straight friends call me a hippie, and all of my hippie friends call me a yippie. I've been more places and have done more things than most people my age, and sometimes even twice my age. I know a lot of stuff, and I want to learn even more. And I am always trying to get a peek at what is around the corner.

What I’m doing with my life

I just finished a two year traditional tattoo apprenticeship. This means for the past two years I have had to give up almost everything in my life and commit myself to the art of tattooing. That being said. I need to pick up some pieces and continue on my journey of life. So. I am kind of in the middle of planning my next move. There are options. All completely different.

I’m really good at

-Giving false impressions, though I never mean to.
-Making something out of nothing, or at least very little.
-Exploring. I like to find things, and learn things. Exploration is the key to growth, and growth is your path to freedom.
-Making people laugh, or so I have been told. I mainly just try and have a good time with whoever I am with and with whatever I am doing. Humor is a big part of that.
-Organizing things... thus the outline format. I get kind of annoyed with it most of the times, so I try to shut it off. Doesn't always work though.
-Making up stories. I have a very active imagination. I like to write, and draw and all that stuff. But I also like to make up stories about things or people, some of them based entirely in fiction, others that are based more in reality. There are good and bad points to this.

The first things people usually notice about me

Usually my height is the first impression shocker that most people get. Then they take a second look and see my tattoos. Other than that I get a lot of comments on my sense of humor and crap like that.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I used to work in a book store. I like a lot of books. Picking a favorite is nearly impossible for me to do with any subject, but it's particularly difficult when it comes to books. When I was younger I was overly obsessed with the Phantom Tollbooth and Alice in Wonderland. Then I got into the Series of Unfortunate Events when everyone else in the world was reading Harry Potter. I got seriously into Vonnegut, Tolkien, and anything on the "do not read" list in middle school. Then I started to branch out into the world of non-fiction in high school. This included any and every occult book, crime books, text books, art books, math books, and the list goes on. All this while keeping a very close tie with Dickens and Joyce, along with a few other classic hard reads. Then I started getting into Bukowski, Palahniuk, Burroughs and stuff like that. I'll read almost anything, and give my opinion on it. Oh... and if that doesn't cut it on the book front... I have Poe tattooed on me.

Movies. Anything and everything. I really like documentaries. I don't mind it when the movie is different from the book. I like movies that are well made, and have good acting in them. Classic stuff. I'm not all for the CGI that comes out now a days, but I am a huge Pixar fan. I like a lot of cult movies. Anything that I wasn't supposed to watch I have watched. John Waters is one of my all time heroes. And I will forever be in love with Kevin Smith. Movies are kind of a big part of my life.

Music is the soul. My "favorite" band is the Dresden Dolls. I have seen them 7 different times, in various kinds of performances. I saw Amanda when she did her solo tour as well. I love going to shows. I love discovering new music, so yes, I always make sure to catch the opening acts. I can listen to anything and appreciate it. Indie, Pop, Funk, Techno, Country, Bluegrass, Metal, Soul, Punk, Ska, Rap... the list goes on. I love it all. So long as it has a good vibe and shows some talent in one form or another I am down with it.

Food is amazing. I work with food, so I am around it a lot. I really like to cook as well, so it is very difficult for me to eat bad food. I will eat almost anything once. So far I have had jellyfish, kangaroo, alligator, ostrich, snake, crickets, ants, pretty much anything that comes out of the ocean with the exception of fugu (which is totally on my list) and a few other random things that I would totally eat if offered, and a bunch of other stuff. My favorite kind of food is Ethiopian (yes, Ethiopians eat food... hahaha). I also love traditional Asian food, home style Southern cooking, and good old 50's Americana classics. Like I said, I'll eat almost anything.

The six things I could never do without

1. A shower. Showers have some weird power over me and can make everything bad go away. Showers are good.
2. My friends and family. You know the deal.
3. Curiosity. I don't ever want to loose my want for exploration.
4. Good food. It's important. I go without it every so often. I like to fast. But it is really just a reminder of how much good food can help a situation.
5. Self expression. I am constantly doing something to share things with other people. Or even just to get it out of my own head and onto something that will hold it so I don't have to think about it anymore. This includes anything that I might use to do this, like pens, paper, markers, paint, tattoo stuff.
6. Time to space out and go into my own head for a while. People see me do this and freak out and think that something is wrong. Nothing is wrong, I'm just thinking.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

People. I have always been a people watcher. And I have always made up stories about people. I can look at someone and usually have a fairly good idea about what they might do or have been through. I like to listen to people, and hear their stories. I think a lot about how we people are affecting the world around us, and how little we affect the universe around our world. I like to think of people from the past, and the future, and alternate forms of the present.
Depending on my mood, or my company, or my general place in life at that time I will think about many different things. I like to invent things and theories, and figure out how or why something works the way it does. And how it might work differently. I like to think.

On a typical Friday night I am

Honestly... I really don't do too much right now. I'm so used to working 12 hour days 7 days a week, and have lost so many of my "hang out" friends that I had that I don't really have much to go out for. So. I draw, read, watch different movies on Hulu or Netflix, play games, clean, or space out. Every so often I like to drive somewhere really dark and look at the stars.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'll admit to almost anything. I have kind of given up on being a private person, I don't really see the point of hiding who you are. But due to "social standards" I choose to not talk about myself then offend someone with something that I might say. That whole brain to mouth screen that keeps most people from saying certain things was totally left out of the plans. So, I say almost everything and anything that I am thinking. Thus, not too much privacy.
Anyways. As far as "private" goes I guess I will say that nearly all of my socks have holes in them. I like to wear my clothes until they are tattered and fall off naturally. I also haven't paid for a haircut in over 5 five years. I either cut it myself or have a friend do it for me.

You should message me if

you actually read even half of all the shit I typed. and don't be an asshole. old school manners go a long way with me, polite and courteous interaction is always a plus.

and I am tired of people who can't take care of themselves. you don't have to have a house and a car and all of that shit, but you have to NOT have them for the RIGHT reasons. I have no intention of taking care of anyone other than myself right now.
