I like Joni Mitchell's "I've looked at life from both sides now".
Overall I'm pretty much an outdoorsy type of guy and I've always loved animals. My present Toronto house in a canyon of high rises in the downtown core speaks of my past long ago. But at least I was always on the ground and had a tiny backyard for my two big dogs (which both since passed away). My newer house is on a small forested island by the ocean in Florida. Ironically, there are "plenty of fish" in downtown Toronto but few near my tropical island paradise. I tired of the gay scene long ago, and I am looking for an honest and sane down to earth man with a masculine demeanor who enjoys the outdoors and intelligent conversation. I'm not into competitive sports, but I like exploring places with someone and doing things in nature like hiking, biking, kayaking, rollerblading or just going for a walk and talking.
I've also worked in the opposites, from psychology to computer programming to property management, and can sometimes be a bit like the guys on Big Bang Theory (book smart) and very focused on something. For example, instead of just doing or thinking what everyone else does out of custom, I question things and will spend time on the internet getting to the root of an issue, examining the studies done in order to come to the truth, which can sometimes be very different from common opinion and practice. The most recent example would be: is a/c really the right choice to stop mold from growing in a house in Florida? In psychological career oriented testing, I've always scored highest in the "investigative" category. But I can just as easily get into silly 60's sitcoms (Green Acres for eg.). I also love being wild and dancing at outdoor festivals, even when everyone else is too inhibited to. For me, festival music is to move to.
Kayaking the waterways of the Toronto Islands is a nice mix of nature and people. Kayaking from my place in Tampa Bay through trails in the mangrove swamps, passing the odd dolphin, manatee, or stingray to the open ocean 20 minutes away, and then the beach, can be so relaxing. It's nice to have someone else to do that with.
I retired early so I have plenty of free time to do things and to be wherever I want. I want to share this with someone. Ideally, in a partner, it would be nice to meet someone who is relatively free and not tied down to his work. Of course, if we're just friends, that's not as important. It would be nice to have someone visit me in Florida to share my paradise with; I have a spare cabin in my backyard (see pic).
I'm loyal, sincere, gentle, and fairly easy-going.
In friends I like emotionally honest, easy-going, warm, gentle, sane, and dependable guys.
For a relationship, on top of that add: masculine sounding, lean or fit, and hairy legs is always nice.
Myself, in that arena: I look young for my age, and I'm versatile, adventurous, and guys are rarely disappointed with what they see.
Send me a message if any of this interests you.
