I'm working and playing as an adjunct professor of
Philosophy and Theology
(classicist and mediaevalist), and a classically trained
professional musician (viola, horn, voice) who plays in many
genres, a genre author, and a trained counselor and diplomat.
My latest, most exciting project is that I'm collaborating on a new
mini-opera/monodrama, "Mother of Dreams" (Lilith), prologue
premiered in NYC 12/20/12 at Flushing Town Hall with more dates for
an expanded version in '13. I also have a new music/improv chamber
music collective, Wolf's Gang (viola, winds, piano, harp), that
since Jan. '12 has played Cornelia St. Cafe, Flushing Town Hall,
LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, Downtown Debussy Festival at 1
Liberty Plaza, and more to come in '13 plus my solo dates. It's
really fun to get to know the composers. Lots of new
adventures!
I've played with Japanese jazz trio, Robin's Egg Blue, at DUMBO
Arts Center, Blue Owl, and J-Summit at Bowery Electric.
I'm also an events planner who gathers together artsy, cultured,
charming, chivalrous, successful or at least determined-to-be,
like-minded cohorts who like to smile and be smiled at and with,
for the first arts-style Host Club in the US, debuted July 30th,
2010 (seen in Time Out NY's Best of Fests issue 2010). Since then
we've appeared at Forbidden Planet's and Funimation's Black Butler
Preview Party, hosted our own Winter Solstice Wonderland @ SoHo
Gallery for Digital Art, and were special guest hosts at J-Summit
concerts at Webster Hall, along with a Valentine's Day Party at
Kinokuniya Books and an appearance at NYC's Vampire Ball '11, plus
at FIT's Fashion Festa2. The Anime convention at the gallery
(Animinicon SoHo each Aug.) focuses on Japanese art, culture,
manga, music, and anime. We had classy tea parties and soirees at
Lunacon at the Rye Towne Hilton in Rye Brook, other J-Summit
benefit concerts at Bowery Electric, and a lovely sake and menu
tasting brunch. Summer '11 was also the samurai tea and poetry
reading for Pride Week at SoHo Gallery. And there was the fall '11
J-Rock and tea party event at the gallery and our Nightmare Before
Christmas party, plus our Salsa of Love Valentine's Tea & Dance
Party '12 (return on 2/9/13!)! We keep happily busy embarking upon
our 4th year. :->
These projects take up a lot of my life and grow outta the core of
who I am (which is why I talk about them here -- beauty, art, joy
to share with all!). But in spending most of my waking hours seeing
to the happiness of my guys and my guests, artists and clients, and
as much as that makes me supremely happy (happiness is contagious!)
and it's really a great job, I am dedicated to my own well-being,
too, and I find that I'm better in collaboration, so I'm seeking an
eventual partner (who has their own life but might also enjoy
sharing mine)...in everything. Hence, this profile.
