What I'm doing with my life
I recently graduated from a liberal arts college in Philadelphia PA
where I double majored in Sociology and Computer Science. I spent
the last few months as a research assistant, working on a farm in
Scotland, and working on political campaigns in Ohio and San Diego.
I plan on working for two or three years before going back to
school.
I'm really good at
I'm really good at coming up with bad ideas, being unnecessarily
awkward, and cooking delicious delicious food.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
My ridiculously curly hair. Especially when it was waaaaaay longer
than it is now.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
My favorite books are After the Quake by Haruki Murakami,
VALIS by Philip K. Dick and
The Sun
Also Rises by Earnest Hemingway, though
really I love almost anything those three men have written. And
The
Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism is phenomenal,
along with all of Weber's other work that proves He's Smarter than
You.
My favorite movies include all of Wes Anderson's work, Chan-wook Park's Vengence trilogy (Sympathy for Lady Vengence, Sympathy for Mr. Vengence, Oldboy), My Neighbor Totoro, City of God, and High Fidelity.
In terms of music, I listen to a very wide range, but some of my favorites are Animal Collective, The Books, Modest Mouse, TV on the Radio, The Beta Band, Kid Koala, Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, The Who, David Bowie, early Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Cunninlynguists, The Pixies, Silver Jews, M83, The Mountain Goats, Frank Zappa, and Mr. Bungle. I also go through phases where I just absorb as much of a single genre as I can. Surf Rock, Folk and Blues have all had their turns. Usually I find some iconic artist or a huge anthology to consume. Mmmm.... MP3s....
