I am high-minded, contrary, and shy.

My Self-Summary

My eyes are blue-green and my hair is brown. Improper grammar and incorrect spelling drive me crazy. I like to read both lighthearted and serious stories and attempt to write my own. I'm quite shy, but that does little to squelch my dry sense of humor (and the occasional sarcasm that comes with it). I enjoy anime and manga. I like to laugh. I'm very good at wasting time.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm trying to figure that out.

(Funny how having a college degree does not automatically answer this.)

I’m really good at

I'm excellent at writing papers last minute, smiling at strangers, making witty (or not so witty) comments during movies, and reading good books.

The first things people usually notice about me

My guess would be my smile. At least, that's the thing I've received the most comments on at my workplace.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) The Secret Garden, Ella Enchanted, Pride and Prejudice, The Only Alien on the Planet, Goose Chase, The Boogiepop series, The Abhorsen Trilogy (my true love is young adult fiction, though I've found a number of adult books that I like as well).

B) The Princess Bride, Tony Takitani, Stranger than Fiction, Linda Linda Linda, Jurassic Park, The Wedding Singer, Escaflowne, The Last Unicorn, Labyrinth, LOTR trilogy

I should probably also say here that I'm an anime fan with a nicely varied collection.

C) Akino Arai, All-American Rejects, Aural Vampire, Buck-Tick, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Fleetwood Mac, FLOW, Franz Ferdinand, Janne da Arc, Jars of Clay, Jennifer Knapp, Maaya Sakamoto, Nightwish, Nickel Creek, Orange Range, Origa, Rurutia, Tokyo Jihen, Tommy February6, Vienna Teng, Yoko Kanno, Yuki Kajiura

D) Gummy candy (especially Sour Patch Kids), Asian food (including but not limited to okonomiyaki, inarizushi, onigiri, and melon pan), mildly spicy food, mushrooms (the non-hallucinogenic kind)

The six things I could never do without

1) My cat. At heart, I'm an animal lover.

2) My laptop. There are times when my fingers might as well be attached to the keyboard.

3) My contacts/glasses. Without them, I'm about as blind as a bat.

4) Carbonated beverages. It's not so much the caffeine as the carbonation; I love it.

5) A good book. I always lug a few favorites with whenever I travel.

6) A pen and paper. I like to be able to write wherever I go as well.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future -- in the way of a career and a place to live. I'm at that age, I suppose.

But I also think about weird trivia, song lyrics, things I've read, memories from childhood, etc.

On a typical Friday night I am

Reading or surfing the web by myself, or hanging out with a small group of friends. I am not the party type.

You should message me if

You feel so inclined, and are prepared to be ignored should I happen to forget about this site (as I have done in the past); nothing personal. I should also note here that while I can ignore common grammar/spelling mistakes (I won't claim to be free of them), if you message me and fail to use any punctuation or capital letters, I can guarantee that I will not message you back.

Oh, and by the way, I'm not here because I want to "hook up." It'd be nice to have more people to chat with, though.
