I am a guy who's loves cooking, literature, sports, the theater, and nerding out on occasion, but who is also looking for a little more adventure in my life.

I have been to Europe several times, and am looking for an excuse to use more of my vacation time for traveling, instead of watching it flounder and collect. I have family and friends all around the country (I was a transplant from Pennsylvania, and somehow ended up in Texas for far longer than I expected). My job with a local engineering firm keeps me fairly busy and for the most part has some decent perks.

I'm happy to be spending a night out, or a night in, though prefer conversation and quiet drinks to the noise of a club. And every time I shave I get carded at bars.

Mostly, I just thought I'd give this thing a shot to try to meet more people than my current circles seem to touch.

Lately I have been working too much, baking bread (or at least trying really hard to), blending, trying to go to the gym and looking at travel websites.

Empathy and buying kitchen tools.

My beard or glasses, I would guess.

Books: Anything by Connie Willis, Tim Powers, Rex Stout, or Haruki Murakami. Lots of other things too. I read a lot.

Movies: Some favorites are Wonder Boys, Dark City, the Royal Tenenbaums, Clue, Serenity, Ratatouille, Die Hard, The Fountain.

Music: In no particular order, Modest Mouse, Silversun Pickups, REM, BNL, Eluviete, Ben Folds (Five), Godspeed You!Black Emperor, Suzanne Vega, Angus and Julia Stone, and so on

Food: Anything but cherries, basically. And I'm more of a tea guy than a coffee guy.
