Hello! I'm a 25 year old PhD student in Archaeology. Currently splitting my time between Durham and Sheffield, where I'll likely be moving back to fully once I am done with the PhD at the end of this academic year.

Working on a PhD, ruminating on future plans afterwards. Trying to keep afloat of it all. Spending time with friends and doing what I enjoy in between the cracks.

Academic nonsense, listening, laughing, sharing, making others laugh.

Books: For work, a whole bunch of archaeology-related things. For pleasure I enjoy Alasdair Gray, Will Self, Robert Jordon, J. R. R. Tolkien, Margaret Atwood, George R. R. Martin, David Mitchell (No, not that David Mitchell), Bret Easton Ellis.

TV: I very much enjoy Mad Men, The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Thick of It, Parks & Recreations, e.t.c.

Movies: I'm open minded and enjoy a range of film genres, although I'm increasingly bored with big CGI spectacles. Favourite directors include David Lynch and Ridley Scott.

Food: I particularly love Indian, Chinese and Japanese... but am willing to try anything!

Music: Music is probably my biggest passion outside of my work. I like a whole range of genres, primarily metal, industrial, noise, jazz, alt. hip-hop, rock, pop, psytrance, and a whole bunch more. If you like the Cardiacs or Fucked Up I would be very excited.

Good conversation, close friends, stimulating reading, inspiration, music and variety.

Social issues, politics, environmental issues, archaeology, music... and all the usual crap most people spend their time obsessing over.

Out with friends with pub sometimes, or in just with a film or a book, or out travelling somewhere. I'm not sure I have a typical Friday night!

I was once saved from drowning by a German nudist.
