My self-summary
I'm a Boston area native and live and work in the city. I can be a little shy and quiet at times, but can carry on a conversation and have a pretty dry sense of humor. Despite my name on this thing, I'm not actually much of a morning person.
What I’m doing with my life
Here's a teeny-tiny slice of what I'm doing with it:

I'm in a job where I write a lot, and I've found that I sort of like it, so forgive me if I go on for too long.

I'm pretty independent and walk everywhere. I like exploring the city and taking daytrips and checking out other parts of New England. I also like to bicycle places. Oh, and I swim quite a bit, but for exercise, not as transportation. I've been doing a lot of hiking lately too.

I've been to Europe a bunch of times and and was even an exchange student in Germany when I was in high school. I've been to a lot of the US. Death Valley was overwhelming, I felt tiny. I saw the bioluminescent bay in Vieques, the water glowed, I was amazed. The journey can be the destination, so I like road trips and long distance rail travel. I want to go to the Pacific Northwest someday, but no one will take me. I like to hike too. I like to visit and know a lot about the state parks in Massachusetts because I used to be a state park ranger.

I like taking photos of things. I grew up in a big old house in a suburb north of Boston where there was always lots of free instant film and free instant cameras (and a photographer who worked for the company which made the aforementioned film and cameras who would teach his many kids how to use them). I just got a fancy camera and am trying to figure it out.
I’m really good at
Retaining facts and useless information. I kill at trivia.
Also singing when I think no one is around.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know. They never tell me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Sirens of Titan, Assassination Vacation, The Wordy Shipmates, Truman, John Adams, The Devil in the White City, Team of Rivals, Dolores Claiborne, The Cider House Rules. Anything by David McCullough or Sarah Vowell. Um, lots of history stuff that you may or may not know. You can ask em about it.

Movies: Schultze Gets the Blues, Romy & Michele's High School Reunion, Singin' in the Rain, Serial Mom, Polyester, Good Bye Lenin!, Waiting for Guffman, Hairspray (the one with Divine and Rikki Lake), The Triplets of Belleville, Little Miss Sunshine, Bagdad Cafe, all of Wes Anderson's stuff, all of John Waters's stuff. And then some.

TV: any MST3K, Louie, American Horror Story, Walking Dead, Orange is the New Black, Peep Show, MST3K, Happy Valley, Mad Men, Getting On, Trailer Park Boys, Comedy Bang! Bang! Please Like Me, Garfunkel and Oates...

Music: Elliott Smith is probably the closest thing to a god that I know of (I assume he'd probably be horrified by that), I also like Heatmiser, R.E.M., Sufjan Stevens, AM & Shawn Lee, The Mamas and the Papas, The Go-Gos, Grandaddy, The B-52s, Fleetwood Mac, MGMT, Jonathan Richman (with or without the Modern Lovers), ABBA, Mary Lou Lord, Annie Lennox, Air, Beck, Steely Dan, Radiohead, Madonna, The Pixies, Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66, Miike Snow, The Smiths, Clive Tanaka, The Shins, Broken Bells. And all that sixties era lounge music I've been listening to lately.

I also like to bake things like bread and pies and to experiment with the slow cooker.
The six things I could never do without
Going places I've never been or have been and liked
Swimming around in circles
Walking somewhere
Eating things
Drinking water and not water
Laughing about things which may or may not be funny ( apparently I tend to do that in my sleep)
Breaking dumb rules.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whatever is in my field of vision. Or on my mind.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm either in watching a movie, baking bread or something or out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't chew gum. It makes my jaw and teeth hurt and tastes gross after a few minutes.
You should message me if
You ever want to take a walk with me or something.
