My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I wrote a really good self-summary once on some other web site. I don't remember anything about it but I remember being immensely satisfied by it, completing it, and never returning to that web site again. Much like myself, it was super cool, smooth, hilarious, and smart. It was also probably much less self-satisfied.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work at the VA in Albany. The pay is so-so, the benefits are awesome.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
writing. It's a hobby, not a career. I wrote a book a couple years back for the fun of it. I printed a bunch of copies and distributed it amongst my friends. I'd like to brag about being a good speller but that makes me incredibly nervous that somewhere in this profile I've made a huge typo. Oh and I know probably a bit too much trivia about movies and tv.
The first things people usually notice about me

I'm usually pretty quiet until I feel comfortable around a person. People would probably notice what I'm wearing. I go out a lot straight after work, so I'll still be wearing a shirt and tie.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I've recently rediscovered the joy of reading so I've got this giant stack of books that I've accumulated over the years that I'm tearing through. My favorite book is probably a novel called The Boy Detective Fails which is pretty awesome. I've been reading a lot of non fiction lately.

My favorite grown up movie is A Serious Man. My favorite kid movie is A Goofy movie. I have a general interest in all sorts of movies but I see and like relatively few. Wes Anderson's failed to disappoint me thus far.

The honor of my favorite TV show easily goes to The Venture Brothers. I LOVE The Venture Brothers. Don't even bring it up if you're not prepared to be bored to tears. These days, the only other appointment TV I have is Parks and Recreation and Community. I torrent or hulu a few other random things here and there.

I'm a little weird and overprotective about the music I like. My favorite band is The Eels. It's rare I meet someone who has heard of them which sort of bums me out. Modest Mouse is a close second and I'm currently working my way through the catalog of The Mountain Goats.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Omitting living things and actual necessities, I'm going to say, my cell phone, computer, pen and paper, my car, movie theaters, and cookies.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
... I think a lot about myself and my actions and what motivates the things that I do. I've also been known to think about these things too much and get way super neurotic. I may need someone to slap me around if I get too anxious.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
doing something exciting and different. If that doesn't work out I'm asleep at home by 10.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
is that I once had my roommate hang out at the bar where I was meeting with an okcupid date because she was so gorgeous and so aggressive about meeting up right away that I was a little freaked out it was some sort of set up.

It ended up being one of the most dull dates of my life with a girl who was just really gifted at taking selfies.

you're looking for a good friend. Don't get me wrong, I'm on a dating web site and I'm totally here for that purpose, but I've recently realized that some of my past relationships failed because I was never really friends with the girls. It's really easy when you have physical or emotional chemistry with someone to overlook that very basic need for a friendship. Right now I'm trying to focus on making a good friend before things get too mushy or too sexual.
