I am relentlessly, pursuing, and Ms. Bennet.

My Self-Summary

In the dive bar of the forsaken, I am a workhorse whiskey and every woman I've ever fallen in love with has been a surprise Britvic mini. After eight years of being downed with cheap lager we were briefly united, but alas, you'd settled. It brings tear to my eye and puts a lump in my throat. Also, three shots of tequila, a slice of lemon, half a cruet set, and a long bitter tirade involving endless misquoting of the Whitsun Weddings addressed to a skipping juke box over which I stand sentinel. Two-third empty, half cut literary barfly seeks a better bottling up rota from Love's bartenders. No gingers or bitter lemons.

What I’m doing with my life

At the moment? Filling out an OkCupid profile. I'm trying to be productive.

And between sending unsolicited messages to people on OkCupid, I'm working on my second novel.

I’m really good at

Reading, writing, making people laugh, making myself seem more vapid than anyone has a right to be. I'm also pretty sarcastic.

Them: "So what's your religion?"
Me: "Whatever makes you nervous."

The first things people usually notice about me

My deep voice.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Pride and Prejudice, Blood Meridian, the Inferno.

Confession: Pride and Prejudice isn't really my favorite book. That honor usually goes to Blood Meridian. Other favorites include Infinite Jest, Dubliners, The Savage Detectives, The Stranger, Slaughterhouse-Five, House of Leaves, and anything by William Shakespeare.

I own a few hundred books, so it's hard to pick definite favorites.

Update: I'm adding Lydia Davis to my list of favorites. Her collection Varieties of Disturbance is fucking brilliant--one of the best books I've read this year. Go, now. Read it!

Movies: There Will Be Blood, The Godfather, Casablanca.

Music: Mozart.

Food: Italian, sushi. And Italian sushi.

The six things I could never do without

1. Literature.
2. My car.
3. Swear words. (What's your favorite?)
4. My apartment.
5. Writing implements (whether it be pen, paper, computer, or hammer and chisel).
6. Sex (let's be honest).

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Pride and Prejudice. Okay, not really, but there's a reason the novel ends just before the wedding.

I also spend a lot of time wondering why I don't take online dating seriously. In case you can't tell. (Hence the lack of pictures. I'm not looking for "the one," and if I were looking, it wouldn't be on a stupid site like this.)

"When you look at a piece of delicately spun glass you think of two things: how beautiful it is and how easily it can be broken." --Tennessee Williams

On a typical Friday night I am

Writing dirty sonnets in the style of bad boy William Shakespeare.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I probably won't stick around for very long.

You should message me if

You happen to be Elizabeth Bennet. Or if you think you're Elizabeth Bennet. (But let's face it: every woman wants to be Elizabeth Bennet, the fox.) I think women who wear glasses are ridiculously sexy, so that's a plus. If all else fails, message me if you curse a lot.

Note: If you enjoy Twilight, don't even bother sending me a message. I won't be able to take you seriously.
