I am laid-back, sweet, and rad.

My Self-Summary

Just trying to connect with real people that share common interests. I got out of a turbulent relationship at the beginning of the summer, and I'm not looking for love or "the one." I'm really enjoying my freedom right now, and the fact that I don't have to clear my schedule for anyone anymore is also pretty fantastic.

I am sick of all the cliche lines and cookie cutter profiles on this website. If I have to read "I work hard so I can play hard" one more time I may go off the deep end. Also..everyone likes to hang out with their friends. I'm easily amused but not easily impressed...at all!!! I think that I'm a pretty unique person, and admittedly a little picky, but there's no crime in knowing what you want in all walks of life.

Hmmm about me? Well, I just turned 30 in January. It feels the same as 29 so far..and I actually still get carded all the time, which I can handle. I'm a typical Aquarius in that I am kind of a social butterfly, but also value my alone time. I'm definitely not quirky or moody though! I've been independent/on my own for a long time, and I'm pretty mature and responsible. Right now I'm living in the middle of the state with 2 roommates, but honestly I dunno that I will be staying in CT forever.

As far as hobbies go, I spent most of my childhood and young adulthood riding horses. I ride English, which is the discipline where you jump. I owned 3 horses that I supported myself, and I'm a big animal lover. I haven't been in the saddle in awhile, but riding is something where you are always learning and improving, and it's something you can always go back to at any point in life. (Though I can definitely say that falling off hurts more now than it did at 13!)

Even though I grew up in a small town, I enjoy the fast pace and excitement of the city. I'm just as comfortable with walking around a country fair as I am with riding on a crowded subway. I'm a Boston girl at heart, but I would really like to spend a lot more time in NYC, as I haven't been there anywhere near as much. I got my passport this year, and I'm dying to fill it up with stamps. I'd love to meet someone who wants to travel and experience other cultures. I'm trying to plan some smaller scale trips out west right now as well. (I have friends in Seattle, Denver, and SLC)

As far as TV goes, I really could live without one. It's kind of like black spray paint for your eyes. I think the Office is a hilarious show, and that Burn Notice is awesome (Mostly because of Bruce Campbell), but I don't queue things on the DVR or keep updated with what is going on, and I read the news online. I enjoy shows on A&E like Intervention, and I just started getting into The First 48. I'm also a dork for Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State. I do watch Giants and Red Sox games occasionally, but overall I'm much more of a reader and a movie watcher. I'd much rather be outside doing something. I love the beach, and its been way too long since I've gone camping.

I grew up listening to classic rock, but have really eclectic taste in music. Most of my music collection is in the punk, metal, and rock genre, but I also have Prince and Bob Dylan on my iPod.

I'm a very friendly and outgoing person. I stopped caring a long long time ago about what others think of me. I have a very open mind, and an awesome sense of humor (or so I'm always told) I'm really laid-back, and I completely hate drama in all shapes and sizes. If you are looking for a girly-girl, a nutbag, a trophy, or an entitled princess that treats you badly, you should move onto another profile! I am far from perfect, but I am very genuine and honest, which is something most people seem to lack these days. Ideally, I'm only interested in getting to know people who are genuine/not selfish. That seems to be hard to find.

*SIDENOTE* I don't exactly "dislike" cats. I am however, horrendously allergic to them...like breaking out in hives/unable to stop sneezing allergic. If you have a cat or 2, that's fine, but please don't be the guy version of a crazy cat lady!

What I’m doing with my life

Working full-time in the oh-so-glamorous retail biz, living life, and having fun!!

I’m really good at

Listening, making people laugh, crossword puzzles, and singing. I'm sure there's more, but I'm a pretty modest girl!

The first things people usually notice about me

I always get compliments on my eyes, skin, and lips. I very rarely wear make-up, so what you see is what you get!! I also get a lot of negative/stupid feedback about my septum piercing, so I'd prefer it if you liked facial piercings!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Well, I've been reading since I was 3, and I'd be lost without my library card. As far as "classic" stuff I like Thoreau (Walden=esential) Hemingway, Vonnegut, Falkner, etc. I like newer non-fiction that makes me laugh, like anything by Augusten Burroughs or David Sedaris, as well as serious non-fiction like biographies, anything historical, and/or interesting. I have read everything from the Zombie Survival Guide to Gone with the Wind. I hate romance novels, and my guilty reading pleasures are Practical Horseman Magazine (I rode/grew up around horses most of my life) and anything about ghosts/paranormal activity.

Movies: Anything zombie/horror/gore, that isn't stupid....like Shaun of the Dead, NOTLD, Silver Bullet, Army of Darkness (which some people may deem stupid, cause they are ignorant to the fact that Bruce Campbell rules), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, High Fidelity, the original Star Wars trilogy, Clerks, Mallrats, Say Anything, Pee Wees Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Indiana Jones (not the new one) Alien, the Lost Boys, and many, many more.

Music: Against Me! Andrew WK, Bouncing Souls, the Weakerthans, Misfits (older), Beastie Boys, GWAR, H2O, Weezer, Face to Face, Lifetime, the Clash, Faith No More, Between the Buried and Me, Descendents, ALL, BANE, CCR, Queen, Heart, NOFX, MeFirstandtheGimmeGimmes, the Pixies, Rush, Social D, Johnny Cash, Dylan, the Beach Boys, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, Radiohead, Dropkck Murphys, Goldfinger, Dethklok, Bad Religion, Converge, Grade, Hot Water Music, Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil, The Smiths, Rancid, and a whole lot more

Food: Sushi is a fave, good Mexican, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, all kinds of stuff. My next adventure is going to be trying Peruvian food. I'm also a bit of a beer snob, but don't homebrew or anything. I'm just anti-Corona, Coors Light, etc.

The six things I could never do without

My family, my friends, air, water, food, and animals

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The impending zombie apocalypse and how prepared I am to face it, food, music, traveling, and human nature.

On a typical Friday night I am

Working! Hopefully by the end of the year, if not sooner, that will change. Saturday is usually my night out! I like relaxing at home with my roommates and playing Rock Band, hitting up Boston or NYC, going to karaoke, enjoying a good meal, which is ideally paired up with a good beer, going to a show/concert, seeing a movie, taking a random roadtrip, bowling, mini golf, I'm game for anything!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm not sure why I keep trying online dating!

You should message me if

-You make passes at girls who wear glasses.
-You'd rather go to a dive bar to sing karaoke than to the club
-You like to try your hand at cooking at home, instead of going out
-You think animals are cooler than people
-You want a girl who will watch the game with you....happily!
-You crave physical affection not emotional issues.
-You're geeky/nerdy/dorky
-You actually read all my above rants :)
