My Self-Summary

I live for the outdoors. Whether I'm out climbing a mountain in desolate wilderness or sitting in my backyard reading, it's the place to be. I'm a pretty passionate person, so I'm passionate about almost anything I'm really interested in - right now I'm racing bicycles, racing cars, cooking, playing music... but someday soon I might get hooked on some new thing I get involved in.

I grew up, went to college and continued on with grad school back east, but moved to Cali for an engineering job where I've stayed for what now feels like a long time. While I'm an adventurous and motivated guy, working on summitting every 14000ft mountain in California, I also like to chill, watch a good flick, go out to a comedy show, or listen to / play music. I like to cook, drink wine, study foreign language and culture, travel and read when I can. I'm definitely not all Mr. Intellectual, though, as I more often like to have a beer and play darts or pool and people watch.

What I’m doing with my life

My career was well focused through college and landed me in an engineering job. I'm good at it, and it can be fun (for better or worse I am a math and physics geek), but I can be frustrated that it takes so much time away from everything I love to do. I love being outdoors backpacking, climbing, and skiing. I love competition and sports, from tennis to cycling to bowling. I love driving, and have a professional racing license to show for it. I love cooking... and eating, too. I love listening to, writing, and playing music. From the big things to the tiny things, I enjoy living life to the fullest.

I’m really good at

I'm pretty good at most things I put my mind to, and I like to try a little bit of everything. However, I haven't heard anyone tell me to quit my day job in a long time!

Books: I can't remember the last non-fiction I read - yikes! The Mind Book, Speed Secrets 2, Extreme Alpinism; Movies: Memento, The Lives of Others, 25th Hour, Touching the Void, Zoolander, Predator, Hero, Heat ; Music: Radiohead, A Perfect Circle, Blonde Redhead, Blur / Gorillaz, The Decemberists, Beck, NIN, Elliott Smith, Tori Amos, Hindemith, Beethoven, old-school East Coast hip-hop (just to keep the list short) ; Foods: Italian (be it north or south), Thai, Indian, Japanese, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Mexican... there might not be any food I don't like!

The six things I could never do without

On a typical Friday night I am

It depends - I might be cooking a big meal and going to bed early before a long day training on the bike. I might be driving into the night on my next hiking, climbing or mountaineering adventure. I might be at the track tweaking my car for Saturday morning qualifying. Or maybe I'm just chillin' with friends, conversation and a couple good bottles of wine.
