I am quick-witted, dorky, and really bored.

My Self-Summary

I could never get the hang of writing these things. Having lived with myself for most of my life, I know myself pretty well and, consequently, have heard most of my stories and opinions and have no way of objectively knowing what's interesting about me anymore.

Well, I'm tall, dark, and reasonably handsome to start off with. I'm also reasonably intelligent, but tend to waste my brain space with trivia and pop culture rather than something useful. I'm pretty laid back and don't take life too seriously, and it's pretty rare that anyone can spend more than 15 minutes with me and not get at least a chuckle.

Oh. And I can't freaking stand cats.

What I’m doing with my life

Not as much as my parents would like, that's for sure.

I’m really good at

Trivia. For some reason, random stuff just sticks in my brain. Why this should be I don't know, but it did get me on Jeopardy!, which was fun.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) Books - I love me some Terry Pratchett. An odd combination of philosophy and humor. I also love The Stand by Stephen King.

B) Movies - I tend to like older movies. My favorite movie is Casablanca - although the romance part of it is way sappy, you have to love the characters of Rick and Cpt. Renault. The most recent movie that I actually loved was Pirates of the Carribean (the first one), although Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind also gets high marks.

C) Music - I like pretty much all types of music, although pretty much everything that's come out in the last few years seems to be overproduced in my opinion. I'm looking at you, Jessica Simpson.

D) Honestly, my favorite food is tator tot casserole. You can have your sushi or fillet mingion or peking duck. I'll stick with tater tot casserole, a reuben, or chicken fried steak.

The six things I could never do without

1) Family/friends. Yes, it's sappy. Shut up.

2) My car. I'll be the first person to say that Americans use too much oil and it's messing up our economy and environment. But you know what? Riding the bus sucks.

3) Cable tv. I'm pretty sure that I watch way more tv than I really should, but how can one turn their back on The Daily Show? Or I Love the 80's (or any of the other iterations on VH1)?

4) Cornhuskers football. Actually, I love watching football in general, which is another reason why I couldn't function without cable. But what's nice about the Huskers is that it basically bonds the state. You can start a conversation with practically anyone in the state if you have something to say about the last game, season, or recruiting. It's like my security ice-breaker.

5) Baked goods. There's nothing like fresh baked bread, cookies, or cake. If I were on death row, my last meal would be tator tot casserole and fresh banana bread.

6) Eyesight - I love reading, and I don't think that I have the tactile abilities to get by on braille.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Economics and politics. Don't worry though. I almost never talk about them because I know that they are mind-numbingly boring to most people.

On a typical Friday night I am

Lately, mostly chilling at home. Pretty much all of my friends are married with children, so going out with them is not really the same. It becomes a whole production involving babysitters and what not, and a lot of time is spent reminicing about old times and how crazy we all used to be. Kind of depressing, actually.

At the same time you really can't go out by yourself, because you don't want to be the weird old guy at the end of the bar playing the trivia game. So it goes.

You should message me if

All your friends are married with children and you're bored out of your mind as well.
