I am affectionate, fun, and creative.
My Self-Summary
Just another nice, funny, smart, creative, multi-degreed girl in
the rock and film industry. You will not be bored.
What I’m doing with my life
2009 has been all about transitioning from a decade of being a
part-time arts person with a day job to full time. I quit the law
firm & moved to Austin in February.. four months later, I'm the
Production Manager for the Austin Film Festival, helping a friend
start a new venue and still videotape rock bands when I get a
chance. I'm not making as much money, but I'm happy as hell.
I’m really good at
Event production, video camera operation, writing, cooking all
Betty-Crocker style, slam poetry, reading maps, getting ready for
road trips in 20 minutes, having conversations with pretty much
anyone, making out, making you laugh with terrible "walks into a
bar" jokes.
The first things people usually notice about me
My sparkling personality. Or my rack.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'm reading a lot of sci-fi now, mainly Phillip K. Dick and
Heinlein. Lots of my friends (and well, me too) are published
writers, so I keep up with them, but I also have a few shelves full
of classics -- kid's books like the Jungle Books, Phantom
Tollbooth, the Narnia Chronicles; fiction like Salinger, Dorothy
Parker, Tom Robbins, Jane Austen, Bradbury, Asimov, Tolkien; a
stack of nature books, and a stack of writing & film books for
when I have an idea at 3am and need to research. I also just
recently got my Texas library card.. learning never stops.
According to friends, I think too much on a regular basis, so I use
books & movies to escape. In movies, I go through phases.. tons
of action & sci-fi, then a streak of noir (Double Indemnity
& Some Like It Hot this week), then heists, then documentaries
on weird games -- Air Guitar Nation, Spellbound, Fistful of
Quarters, etc. The new job, of course means I'll be all about indie
films for a while.... Music, well, I work with bands, so I like
pretty much anything, but lean toward well-played melodic rock with
a heavier edge. But I still hang with twang, blues, zydeco, jazz,
classic rock, Irish rock, etc. etc. Just don't suck.
Food -- I tend to cook pretty meat & potatoes, but am working
on a lifestyle change in diet & more regular outdoors stuff.
Austin's having a good effect on me. I'm a huge fan of Austin's
cuisine & have a growing belief that all life's wrongs can be
cured with breakfast tacos.
The six things I could never do without
Joy, hope, the ability to see & help create a better future, my
vast and growing collection of friends, the ability to drive (and
therefore change my world in a day), the ability to rock the f***
out.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Ways that I can help my incredibly talented friends make a living
doing what we do best -- bringing music, writing & art to
people who need it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working a show, stomping around clubs by myself, or home curled up
on the couch with a good movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I think my lifestyle makes me nearly undatable. At least I've had
trouble finding people that can keep up. Not a challenge, just a
fact.
You should message me if
You're open-minded, clever, creative, confident, affectionate, love
travelling, people, and believe in making the world you want to
live in.
Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to think I'm cute. ;)
