I am intelligent idealist, witty non-conformist, and a hopeless romantic.

My Self-Summary

Hello, my name is Joseph (some call me Joe or Joey as well). I'm an artistic, funny, thoughtful, generally fair, direct, and a reasonably adventurous wild child with a passion for life and the things that make it worth living. I love to travel and I am continually becoming something new because of life's experiences; a mystery even to myself most of the time. Aside from that I am perfectly imperfect and I take comfort knowing that I am a work in progress being molded by greater hands.

What I’m doing with my life

Working, dreaming, having fun, and getting things set up to continue furthering my college education to pursue studies in green architecture and design.

One of my favorite quotes to sum this up a little...

"Live as if you'll die today. Dream as if you'll live forever."
-James Dean

I’m really good at

Lots of things. At least I'd like to think so. :-D Get to know me and find out.

However, some things that I enjoy are art, music, martial arts, anthropology, motorcycles, ancient history, hiking, camping (and most outdoorsy type stuff), swimming, soccer, going to the shooting range, the mall, the movies, and traveling to interesting places (Museums, concerts, tourist traps, state parks, other states, nature preserves, botanical gardens, unique or specialty themed places, and the occasional Ren Fest or Anime Cons,)

The first things people usually notice about me

The slight chip at the lower corner of my left front tooth (soccer is safer than football they siad, lol, right?), my eyes (depending if I am wearing contacts or glasses), my dry wit, way of speaking, grasp of the English language (well, most of the time anyway if I've had enough sleep), and inquisitive personality.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music-
Kairos, The Becoming, Dead Poetic, Further Seems Forever, Red, Kutless, Casting Crowns, Disciple, Falling Up, Blindside, Skillet, The Myriad, Phil Wickham, Anberline, 12 Stones, Pillar, Josh Groban, LoveX, Entwine, VAST, BT, Poets of the Fall, Jeff Buckley, The Birthday Massacre, Dead Can Dance, Blaqk Audio, Ours, Blue Foundation, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Tears for Tears, Team Sleep, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Collective Soul, Linkin Park, Seether, Flaw, Sinch, 3 Days Grace, Incubus (mid-career), Enigma, Kill Hannah, Chris Isaak, Johnny Cash, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Erik Mongrain.

T.V.-
I don't really like TV too much anymore, don't own one, and rarely watch it. The few shows I do like that I catch online or while visiting family are Smallville, Myth Busters, Extreme Home Make-over, My Name is Earl, Burn Notice, The Pretender, Invader ZIM, Pimp My Ride, and the occassional anime or comedy central show.

Films-
Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, The Last Samurai, 300, Gladiator, The Passion of the Christ, Castaway, The Case for Christ, The Case for the Creator, Expelled, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Legend, The Princess Bride, The Indiana Jones series, lots of Jackie Chan movies, The Protector, The Peacemaker, nearly every Batman film, Daredevil Director's Cut, Equillibrium, Chocolat, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Moulin Rouge, Romeo & Juliet, Oh, Brother Where Art Thou, Hot Fuzz, Hot Rod, Shawn of the Dead, Kung-fu Hustle, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and the list goes ever on... Lol.

Literature-
The Bible a.k.a. The Guidebook to Life & Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, some Ted Dekker novels, Popular Science magazine, Wierd Kentucky, How to Catch a Pig: Lots of Cool Suff Guys used to Know but Forgot about the Great Outdoors, The Book of Joby, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Repair, some of C. S. Lewis's works, J. R. R. Tolkien's works (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarrilion, and The Children of Hurin), Mickery Zukar Reichart's Renshai novels, and George R. R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice Saga. I am looking into reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series at some point as well as the classical and expository works of William Shakespeare.

Food-
Japanese, Thai, Italian, Cajun, Mediterranean, and good ol' down home Southern cookin.

The six things I could never do without

*Lol, I refuse to be limited to only 6 things.*

- Good & trustworthy friends (Could we really call it "life" without at least one person to enrich it?)

- Music (Some things will never be classified as music no matter how much they are force fed to the public or presented as such. Specifically, I dislike Rap, Death/Black Metal, manufactured bubblegum Pop, and Emo screamo pseudo-punk garbage.)

- The arts (Well, within reason. Certain things are taboo or tasteless and shouldn't be classified as art.)

- Nature (Sorry, although I'm stuck in the middle of a city I'm just not fond of it, its vibe, its vices, its chaos, or its unique problems)

- Good books (Sadly, few and far between these days. Why have something intelligent with substance when you can have sparkling emo vampires, right? There are plenty of good books in general science fiction and fantasy to choose from instead.)

- A nice, cool, comfortable place to sleep (Hey, I'm a reasonably tall guy who expends a lot of energy each day so I need it. Besides rest is a welcome reprieve that one can look forward to at the end of a long stressful day.)

- Hope (However, I credit this luxury to a gracious and loving Heavenly Father and Savior as opposed to Pandora's box.)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

This life and the people that I may touch and impact along the way as well as ponder the possibilities of what is to come when this stage of existence transitions into the eternal.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either driving around for the simple enjoyment of it (usually in the more rural areas outside the city if I happen to have the time and gas, lol) while listening to a good CD, going to the dollar movie theater, a book store, a coffee shop, or spending time with friends. I don't do the club or bar scene. I'm pretty much past that.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I don't know. Sometimes I'm very blunt and direct to avoid confusion on where I stand in hopes of avoiding hurting others and/or potentially giving them the wrong impression. I may offend some on occasion, unfortunately. However, I do understand what it means to be tactful as a rule. I'm also slightly shy and caught up in my own thoughts a lot of the time because I have lived alone away from family and without room mates for about two years now. So I guess I've grown a bit used to the pensive solidarity. As a result people might consider me a little bit of an eccentric or a loner. Not my choice if that's the case. It's just seemed to pan out that way since I moved to this city from South Carolina. I'm very outgoing when I have a core group of people that I know well.

Otherwise, why don't you send me a message and just ask me what you want to know about me...my quarks, my potential unresolved emotional wounds that might classify me as a candidate for therapy (j/k), and my special talents? :-P

You should message me if

...you have similar values and interests. Must be creative, adventurous, and interesting! Well...unless you are ignorant, arrogant, vengeful, close-minded, unwilling to listen/communicate in turn, or are frequently prone to bouts of spite and intolerable cruelty towards others.

I mean this in the kindest possible way...please do NOT contact me unless you are (and were born) female, you resemble the healthy and attractive qualities of the fairer sex (no I don't mean you need to be a goddess or playboy bunny...just that you have all your teeth, don't have extra digits, or resemble a sack of potatoes ), are old enough to legally be considered an adult, know how to act like an adult, are not an athiest or agnostic, are not super liberal, and read things other than celebrity gossip forums and Cosmo girl. I detest liars, cheaters, and manipulators as well.

That being said I want to make it clear that I'm picky and specific because I am done wasting time with people who think dating is some game to pass the time until they get bored and need a new toy. I am looking for someone who I not only see eye to eye with but someone who can also intelligently and respectfully disagree if we aren't on the same page. I am looking for someone to have a blast with that is willing to be a little vulnerable, put some emotional effort in, and who might one day become my lifelong companion. I'm not in a rush, but I do hope to find Mrs. Right. Not Mrs. Right-now. I don't want a symbiotic fling or a one night stand. I want something real.

So send me a *wink* or a message if you are interested and like what you see. Otherwise "stalk" my profile a bit until I eventually get the hint and I'll do my best to send you a wink and then a message if you wink back, lol. Please make sure that your profile photos are reflective of what you actually look like now...not what you looked like your senior year of high school or early college years...unless of coarse your early college years are your current ones, lol. Otherwise False advertising is not nice and it is not your friend!
