My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an avid rock climber and occasional backpacker, but I also enjoy getting dressed up and going to the theater. I love good beers after a long week, and good wine for any reason...literally, any reason at all. I could just as easily spend a weekend exploring wineries as I could bumming at the beach. With all those interests, you would be right to assume i don't really fit any molds. I am fluent in sarcasm and recently tried learning went non buono. I'm trying really hard to read more, but I keep falling asleep, which is ok, because I'm also a pretty big fan of naps. People always seem to think I'm older than I am, but I've always thought of myself as being more of a kid at heart. I have an eternal sense of adventure and excitement, and I'm easily entertained. I really, like all the time, mid-onversation, I will start to're just gonna have to get used to that, I'm sorry. It's pretty likely I'll hug you the first time I meet you. I laugh at really, really, REALLY dumb jokes. I think the world is pretty awesome.

I really have no idea what could be said here that would POSSIBLY give you any good idea of who I am, so have a few random facts that will tell you next to nothing but give you something to talk about when you message me :)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I used to be a professional singer, but I pretty much gave up my plans of music being my profession shortly after starting college. I went into electrical engineering, choosing instead to keep music as a passion. I've spent the last 4+ years working for a tech company designing a surgical robot that is revolutionizing the medical industry, which has been incredibly exciting and fulfilling. Eventually, grad school is in the plans but I'm happy to keep working at my current job for as long as I can and continue seeing where life takes me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
engaging with new people. I think I get it from my mom, but I can pretty much talk to anyone...and I do. I'm told I have a terrific singing voice, but I'm my own harshest critic, so I would never admit it. I'm exceptionally good at taking jokes just past the line where people still think they're funny but feel slightly uncomfortable laughing at it. I play sudoku almost obsessively when I'm waiting for things and I'm probably better at it than you. I've been rock climbing for nearly four years and despite taking several long breaks due to injury, I'd say I've gotten pretty good. I'm not a very good dancer, but I am VERY good at being interested in becoming a better, you know, at least there's that!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I wouldn't really know, I've never met me before. I look a lot like Nick Swardson, and have had many strangers come up and tell me that. They probably notice I smile a lot. they probably want to smack me for it too at first. Luckily I seem to grow on most people before that happens. Oh, and I have really pretty, seriously, you should see these things, they're excellent.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite books: Hitchhiker's Guide series, High Fidelity, World War Z, 1984, Still working on Dante's Inferno, but it will make this list, Harry Potter (I know, I know...sigh), Ender's Game.

Movies: High fidelity, Rushmore, When Harry Met Sally, the Batman movies (when Tim Burton was directing and the new Chris Nolan ones), pretty much every Pixar movie, All Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig James Bonds, Princess Bride, Space Balls, Wet Hot American Summer, Sean of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Zombieland and probably 50 more I don't have time to name.

Shows: The Newsroom, The West Wing, Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother (should probably take this off now that it's over), TED Talks....newly into Silicon Valley even though it hits a little close to home....

Music: this list is even longer than the movies, so lets cut it down to the important ones, shall we? Buble, Muse, Audioslave, Cake, Santana, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Otis Redding, Queen, The Beatles, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bobby McFarrin, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Mozart.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Some form of music playing apparatus, probably my phone.
2) Something to read
3) My Kelty backpack
4) People to converse with
5) Back scratches! I wanted to put this at number one, but I don't want people thinking I'm an attention whore.
6) Gah, I don't know...ummm....soap? I guess I'm a simple guy with simple needs.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I think about what book I want to read next and where I want to vacation. I think about how lucky I am to be where I am in life and how I can repay those people (especially my parents) who helped get me here. I think about what I want to cook for dinner. I actually think about work more than I would like to admit, but I really enjoy and am proud of my job. And some nights when I'm feeling all deep, I'll totally contemplate the greater purpose of life and love, and I think I'm getting a pretty clear picture of it (and I see that it is good). Sometimes, I like to just stop thinking entirely and enjoy the silence :-)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Usually cooking a scrumptious dinner and enjoying a beer as I watch a movie or catch up on Big Bang Theory or How I Met Your Mother. My weeks take a lot out of me, so I rarely go out on a Friday night, except when I just really need a drink or have plans with friends. I am happy to just put a kettle on and read a book. You can bet that I have something planned for Saturday though :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm Batman.....but shhhhhhh, don't tell anyone!

I probably should have taken this question more seriously...

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're looking for something new in your life. I'm open to everything from finding someone to go salsa/swing dancing with or someone to call up some weekends and hit up a local bar with, to someone I can fall hopelessly in love with. I just ask that you bring your sense of adventure with you for whatever it is we end up doing.
If you're a genuine, "nosce te ipsum" type person, and not someone just trying to put on a persona or unaware of the life they lead.
If you're someone who's easily excited by the world and how utterly cool it is.
If you've got an interesting story to tell, or a provocative thought to share.
