My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm Leland. I've been in LA for about a year and a half. I love making people laugh and write my own music both serious and funny. I love taking walks and running has become a recent passion over the last couple of years. Lately I've been much more adventurous and have been wanting to try new things like rock-wall climbing and taking random road trips. I have a soft spot for classic movies too. I'm also a bit of a nerd so in my spare time I watch sci-fi movies.

I'm a little quiet at first but I grow out of that quickly once you get to know me. My friends would say that I'm a good listener and maybe even a little too caring for my own good. I'm also a pretty goofy guy and know some pretty good (not so clean) jokes. Sarcasm and I get along pretty well too.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a music therapist (yes, it's a real profession) working in Torrance at a psychiatric facility with adults and children. It's incredibly rewarding and more than a bit challenging at times but I'm glad I get to do music pretty much every day. I'm in the process of getting additional trainings with the hope of working in a children's hospital in the next couple of years.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Music, obviously or I wouldn't be a very effective music therapist. I like to think I'm good at making people laugh. I'm pretty good with random trivia as well. Lately I've been teaching myself how to cook and can make some pretty sweet dishes. If you ever want fried rice or chicken cordon bleu, I'm your guy.
The first things people usually notice about me

Im sweet, kind, and polite. People figure out quickly that I have a sarcastic and clever sense of humor.

And I have really straight teeth. Thank you, 7 years of braces!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: A lot of sci-fi and a lot of the classics like East of Eden, The Time Machine, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Also I love reading more humorous books like Stephen Colbert's books, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I'm currently reading Console Wars by Blake Harris. It's about the console war between Nintendo and Sega in the 90s. I'm also reading a book about Apollo 15.

Movies: Star Wars, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Hot Fuzz, Superbad, anything Pixar (except Brave...I'm sorry but it was terrible), Lego Movie, Gravity, Guardians of the Galaxy

Shows: The Office, HIMYM, Parks and Rec, Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock, a Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Frasier, Seinfeld, The Muppet Show, Game of Thrones, anything nerdy, etc.

Music: As a music therapist I listen to a lot of different types of music because I might be called on to play just about anything for a client. I love the Beatles though, and tend to listen to a lot of Top 40 hits. I love listening to acappella music too.

Food: Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, American. You name it I'll try it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My cat, Mya. I've kind of spoiled her.
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I think I'm addicted.
My guitar. Keeping music in my life is important to me.
My family. I'm an only child so my bonds with my immediate and extended families are all that much more important.
And obviously food and water. I would literally die without those things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Others. I tend to put the needs of my closest friends above my own. Lately I've been thinking a lot about planning for my future too. I'm completely paid off on my student loans so saving and planning for my future and my future family is in my best interest.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Spending time with my closest friends while we watch movies or play video games. Every now and then we'll all go out to the movies or to eat. I want to get out and try new things too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've had my heart broken before. I'm a genuinely nice guy who's tired of getting hurt.

Also, I don't snore.

You like a nice, nerdy guy who loves helping and being there for others. I would want the same in the person I date. I like having quiet evenings in but I'm also looking to get out more and experience new things and share those experiences with someone truly special.
