My Notes edit

My self-summary

I have finally decided that stand-up comedy is something I love to do but I don't want to make a job out of it. I am incredibly laid back and fun to be around as long as you don't mind me being kind of an apathetic bastard at times. I also enjoy a variety of horribly nerdy things such as RPG's, comic books, and a million random games. I'm also fairly intelligent but don't usually know how to translate being smart into making money. I can beat someone in a philosophical debate about a subject I've never read before if I get a decent explanation of the underlying concepts first.

Quick rundown of points: 1. I'm agnostic and don't care what religion you are so long as you're intelligent about it. Also, as long as you don't push your beliefs on others. Discussion is great, Condemnation is not. 2. I'm an armchair liberal that only occasionally gets riled up because of neo-con insanity. I have recently thought about getting more involved in politics because of the absolute idiocy that goes on in it right now. 3. I love horror films but won't force them on people that hate them...much. 4. Talking to me online or even on the phone is not going to give you the full experience as I rely on non-verbal communication a lot. Gestures and facial expressions and what not.

That said, should you feel like it, I am always down for talking to new people. You can get me at Grnegsnspm at either AIM or Yahoo.

What I'm doing with my life

I seem to move to a new place every 10 months without really planning it that way. I was recently working for a construction company putting together modular furniture and whatnot for things like movie theatres and colleges. Hard, honest work. No more, though. Time to find something new. Being more social is high on my list of things I probably will finally get around to. Aside from that, I dick around on the computer a lot, play games, listen to music, and I just started really writing again. I go to karaoke enough now that the KJs and the bartenders know me. It's nice to be a regular somewhere.

I am finally getting in shape. Diet is changed. Exercise is happening. Give me a couple months and I should be somewhat more presentable to the general public.

I'm really good at

Making people laugh. Singing. Debating issues. Thinking creatively. Video games and any other sort of games. Some might call me competitive but that's just cause they can't stand up to the thunder when I bring the lightning. I am also a great listener and tend to give some good advice. I don't usually follow my own advice but that doesn't make it any less valid when applied to other people.

Oh and since it relates to what I'm good at (Guitar Hero), I'll explain where my screenname on here comes from. I was playing Guitar Hero, best game ever, with my friend and started to drop in points. Now, he and I use the line from Jurassic Park "Must go faster. Must go faster." as a catchphrase. So I started going "Must rock faster. Must rock faster." He cracked up and I ended up winning. So that's why the name.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My size. I'm 6'3" and around 200 something pounds. I am a fairly intimidating looking fellow. That is until you know me and realize I'm a big teddy bear.

Aside from that, I have a really loud, jovial laugh. And people say I have a great announcer voice and that I should do radio.

Oh, and my eyes are green but one of my eyes has a brown streak of color going across it which is fairly awesome.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A.) Through the Ice - Piers Anthony, Small Gods - Terry Pratchett, Lord of the Flies - William Golding, House of Leaves - Mark Danielewski, IT - Stephen King, The Iliad - Homer, Inferno - Dante, Hamlet - Shakespeare, The World War Series - Harry Turtledove, The Dice Man - Luke Rhinehart

B.) The Big Lebowski, Requiem for a Dream, South Park, Se7en, IT, Goonies, Labyrinth, Nightmare on Elm St. 3: The Dream Warriors, Army of Darkness, The Ring, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead (both versions), Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy, Here Comes Dr. Tran, Shivers, Princess Bride, Last House on the Left, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Dr. Strangelove, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Clockwork Orange, Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, The Dark Knight

C.) Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Beck, Marylin Manson, Jason Mraz, Rammstein, Queen, Snoop Dogg, Jonathan Coulton, Bon Jovi, Disturbed, Foreigner, Journey, Muse, Pearl Jam, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Fear Factory, Weird Al Yankovic, Atari Teenage Riot, Korn, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Ozbourne, Styx, Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, Rob Zombie, The Killers, AC/DC, Metallica , Lyrics Born, Jurrasic 5, Davinci's Notebook, Cake, Beatles, Duran Duran, Tenacious D, MC Paul Barman, KMFDM

Also, I am completely obsessed with mash-ups (where someone takes two or more songs and combines them into one song). Check out Party Ben or Bootiesf for some really good selections.

Oh and pandora.com is fucking awesome. It plays music I enjoy and has introduced me to some new songs and artists.

D.) Pizza, burgers, guacamole, bacon, eggs, cherries

E.) TV! - Heroes, Smallville, Supernatural, Firefly, Quantum Leap, MacGuyver, Sliders, South Park, Scrubs, Arrested Development, Upright Citizens Brigade, Who Wants to be a Superhero?, Twin Peaks, Masters of Horror, Family Guy, Clone High, Venture Brothers, Boondocks, Lost

If you haven't ever seen it, the show Quite Interesting is an absolute must. It's a British trivia show that's sort of a cross between Politically Incorrect and Jeopardy. It is hilariously informative.

The six things I could never do without

1. Friendship 2. Love 3. Internet 4. Books 5. Conversation 6. Music

For those of you that want to know, this is my least favorite question on the essay portion as it doesn't reveal a whole lot about anyone. There are generally some essential things that everyone needs so the only variations are slight unless someone is trying to be clever and put a bunch of random shit.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I really want out of life and how I'm going to attain it. Also, what I really want to do with my life now that I have ruled out being a professional stand-up comic. I have a lot of options and nothing seems to stick out right now as being the "right choice" for what I should persue. Psychology? Writing? Film? All of these are equally likely right now.

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually I can be coerced into doing something but I am usually either going to be at home with some friends or at another friends house. If I do go do something, it's generally nothing too crazy. Go to a movie, hang out at a cafe, maybe do some karaoke (though it is usually packed on a Friday), or something to that effect. But if a friend doesn't try to convince me to go out, then I will most likely hang out at home and read.

Also, while not technically on topic, the first Saturday of every month is BootieLA. It's a mash-up dance party in LA that is ridiculous amounts of fun. I recommend it.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I'm more honest to an absolute stranger than I am to people I know really well. If you want something more embarassing than that...? Ok, I will listen to and enjoy certain Backstreet Boys songs. I know that this makes me a bad person and i should commit suicide so that my family's honor is not tarnished. But...they're just so damn catchy and up-beat.

Also, I'm manic-depressive but I have it under control. I'm only slightly crazy and not completely batshit loco. Or am I? dun dun dun

I want a lady to wisdom-rock my bonch so hard I forget who's on the penny.

You should message me if

Well, mostly if you can keep up your side of the conversation. If it's all me trying to keep the talking going I will assume you just don't want to talk to me and are too polite to tell me to go fuck myself. Plus, I am fairly quiet at first so I wont talk your ear off (type your eyes out?) on first contact unless you get me rolling on some subject that I have too much knowledge of. However, I absolutely love being asked questions. Answering people's random inquiries about me makes for good times.

Also, if you can recommend some really awesome horror films and/or want to discuss them. I have started running out of things on my list to watch and need new ideas for what to see.
