*** (And if that doesn't catch your attention, well... I'm fresh out of sales pitches.) ***

The fine print:

I value creativity in myself and in others. I have an intense love for stories, music, and all forms of art ranging from traditional, to theatrical, to movies, to videogames. I am passionate about my writing, and always enjoy dabbling in other art forms.

I love intellectual pursuits. I'm a geek, a nerd, a free-thinker, an outcast. I embrace it. You'll find me happiest in my element at science fiction or anime conventions, or at board-gaming parties. I also love playing Rock Band or Star Craft with my friends, or sharing quality television shows in our movie room. When I'm feeling especially adventurous, I love to explore: hiking, caves, traveling to distant lands. I dream of seeing the world, and having someone beside me to enjoy it with me.

My sense of humor is my greatest ally in life. It is a trusted companion that can be relied upon in any situation, and an effective antidote for mundane reality. I love to laugh, I love to act silly, I love to exercise my wit whenever I can. I view Mystery Science Theater 3000 as a recipe for happiness.

I carve my own path in life; I'm never content to follow established norms. I always try to keep an open, unprejudiced mind. I am agnostic, and skeptical of any faith not rooted in scientific reality. I am, however, ethnically Jewish, and choose to follow a few of the less religious cultural traditions.

Although I do my best to disguise it, I'm shy. Shy as I am, I can and will open up to people that gain my trust. Earn my respect, and you'll find that I can be very warm and caring. In a relationship, I believe in openness, honesty, and faithfulness above all else.

I am looking for a girl who is intelligent, funny, and who is unafraid of just being herself, with perhaps a few interests in common. If you have read this far and are interested, please send me a message. The only bad message is the message you don't send. Don't just stalk, please say hi!

EDIT: I found her!

What I'm doing with my life

I've just graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science! I recently began my first post-college job in the computer field. I'm also working on a computer game with a friend that started as our senior project in college, and has turned into an ongoing project that we someday hope to release. My dream is to break into the videogame industry. I also love writing, and am gradually crafting a fantasy novel that someday I'd like to get published.

I'm really good at

I love writing, and am working on a fantasy novel. I'm also good with computers (see major), and I play the piano (although I haven't practiced in awhile...). I like to think that I am funny, I'm a big fan of wit, and especially MST3K-style observational humor. I try to be open-minded, you never know when you'll learn something new. I like to think I'm a decent cook, although I'm fairly lazy so I usually make things with pasta.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

Well that one is hard to answer, I wish I knew what people noticed about me! Probably that I'm shy, but unabashedly geeky. I also have long, dark brown hair, and pale skin.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I could go on and on about my favorite things. I love good science fiction and fantasy and have a soft spot for anime and japanese culture. My favorite books are Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (thought the username gave it away), Elvenbane (and sequels), Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, Moon is a Harsh Mistress... essentially books that are escapist and fun, satire, or make you think.

A few of my favorite shows are Firefly, Farscape, Babylon 5, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel (ok I pretty much love Joss Whedon), Wonderfalls, Twin Peaks, Lost, Pushing Daisies, oh and some British comedy too like Blackadder, Monty Python, and Red Dwarf. Plus anime like Kino's Journey, Wolf's Rain, Haibane Renmei, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Mushi-shi, and others. Oh, and I love the Colbert Report and Robot Chicken. Seriously I have a ton of interests and am always seeking quality entertainment.

Movies would be Serenity, The Matrix, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Princess Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas (among other Tim Burton films), Nausicaa of the valley of the wind (among other Miyazaki anime), Lord of the Rings (the whole damn trilogy), Mirrormask, and others that are slipping my mind right now.

Music would be Oingo Boingo (Danny Elfman is a genius), They Might Be Giants, Rush, Porcupine Tree, The Delgados, Emma Pollock (formerly of The Delgados), Coldplay, The Legendary Pink Dots, The Aquabats, The Dresden Dolls, XTC, Devo, Toy Matinee, The Origin, Pink Floyd, and others. Basically bands with complex and intricate instrumentation, and deep meaningful lyrics. Please no rap or country.

And my favorite foods are south-east Asian, particularly spicy Thai cuisine, and Indian food. My diet consists of way too much pasta, but I love the stuff, it's easy to make (I enjoy cooking, by the way), and it's so versatile... different sauces, different types of pasta, the addition of chicken or other meats cooked different ways.

Can I add a videogames category in? It's my profile, I say yes. Deal with it. ;-) Final Fantasy (my favorite being FFX. But don't ever mention FFX-2 to me.) Psychonauts, Katamari Damacy, Beyond Good & Evil, Okami, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (I loved the level editor), Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Trigger, Starcraft, Warcraft 3, I even spent a summer playing World of Warcraft (but stopped when school started again). Oh, and I have a soft spot for Sonic, especially the old-school genesis ones, although I enjoy some of the 3D ones to varying degrees. I got a Wii on launch day! So add Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario to the list. Oh, and the old tactics rpg Shining Force. Rock Band!! I actually bought my XBOX 360 just to play that game. Most expensive impulse buy I've ever made, but that game is so soooooo worth it. I pretty much love RPGs, enjoy strategy games, and have a soft spot for a good platformer. There are many more I could list but... you could just ask me instead, if you're into videogames.

The six things I could never do without

The Internet, for the wonderful resource and communications tool that it is. Computers, I seriously have no idea what I'd be doing for a job without them. Music, I hate silence, because it simply encourages bad songs to get stuck in my head. Good music (see the above section) on the other hand can really make me happy. Books. Nothing like losing yourself in another world, having adventures vicariously. Of course I am up for real adventures too. ;-) Television, and by that I'm referring to the quality side and not the crap usually associated with the medium. Again, see above section. Laughter. It really *is* the best medicine. A lot in this world is depressing; the ability to laugh really is a necessity to survive, otherwise you'd have to cry all the time.

Bonus thing that goes without saying: a towel. Look it up in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life, the universe, and everything!

And a lot of associated deep thinking.

On a typical Friday night I am

Staying up late. Weekends come around and I turn nocturnal. Care to join me?

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I am a fairly open person. Ask me what you want to know. How about sending a message? (See below section)

You should message me if

In any way my profile sounds interesting to you. If I interest you, chances are you may be what I am looking for as well. It certainly doesn't hurt to send a message, I promise to be nice. :-) I have a few requirements: you should be within 5 years of my age, give or take. No smokers please, that's a complete turn-off for me. Also, you must be respectful of my religious views / lack-thereof (agnostic bordering on atheist).

EDIT: I am now dating, so I'm only looking for friends.

If you think we have interests in common and want to be friends.
