My Notes edit
My self-summary
I like to read, and I'm into music and the arts (...not so much for modern dance or rap). I went to art school and I still paint and write songs. I'm a vegetarian, but I enjoy shellfish and bi-valves (lobster, shrimp, mussels, clams). I love to try new restaurants; and I love to cook. I can make a pretty good attempt at some Chinese dishes, and I'm really good at Indian. I like beer and wine.
I'm a compulsive Aries, but with that comes passion. I'm very soft and tender too. I'll dance with you, if you'd like; and I love to stay up late. I like going out to see bands or foreign/intellectual films, or staying in with a funny video or action flick. I like museums and quirky things like celebrating Bloom'sday or International Talk Like A Pirate Day. I like breakfast or Sunday brunch with the New York Times. And, in general, I try to just be a really nice guy :)
My profile name comes from a poem by Walt Whitman. I'm not that into his poetry (I prefer Bukowksi), but it seemed to fit. It wasn't easy to find a name that wasn't already taken; and to be honest, it's a pretty good poem!
I'm looking for someone to share things with, and have a good time with in general, regardless of what that might be. I'm easy-going, playful, and funny. But more importantly, I'm honest and sincere. I'm humble and a bit idealistic. I like to try new things and I'm pretty adventurous. I'm also level-headed, which keeps me from jumping into things even though my Aries nature tends to push me that way. I guess I'm a little cautious as I know how impulsive I can be at times.
Some of my favorite things to do are paint, check out bands, try new restaurants, see art/foreign films, visit the art museum, have little picnics, write songs, walk aimlessly about the city taking photos of anything that seems interesting, or just hang out at home and watch a video with a beer and a bucket of popcorn. And, as I mentioned earlier, I love to cook!
I don't watch much TV, but I like documentaries and informative shows. For entertainment I like comedies and some action adventure. And I also have a thing for old TV shows, the things that I used to watch when I was a kid... The Avengers, The Nightstalker (no one seems to remember this one!), Night Gallery, Alfred Hitchcock, and cartoons like Speed Racer and Catch The Pidgeon (no one remembers that one either), and Ultra Man.
What I'm doing with my life
And I'm a mediochre musician. Being tone deaf with a weak voice hasn't helped. (Again, dry humor). I make my living in the craft beer industry though, which is pretty fun. I love my job and I'm pretty happy with my life, so although I haven't succeeded at everything, at least I've gotten one of the important things right!

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Art. Music. Our current political picture. Whether or not it's possible for us to have a black man or woman as president. And why some people have a problem with that. How we're so afraid of terrorists blowing up buildings while our bridges and roads are falling apart around us. Oh, and our levees... remember New Orleans, because the government hasn't! Traffic patterns and how to fix them. Architecture. Beer. Movies I've seen and books I've read. What my friends are doing. What my parents are feeling as they get older.
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
I did, however, go to see Culture Club when I was younger... and there WAS a girlfriend involved (I know you were expecting that), but I won't use that as an excuse! I did it, and I lived to tell about it! In fact, I sometimes break into song while at work - "kharma, kharma, kharma chameleon... red, gold and green, red, gold and greeee-eee-een" - much to the shock and horror of my fellow workers! Of course I'm only doing it to get a laugh, but it's more of an Andy Kauffman comedy (or as he would say, anti-humor, or dada absurdist performance art.
