I would describe myself as an excitable intellectual. Proven to be thoughtful and responsible. Introverted. Prone to anxious, melancholy humour. I'm a great fan of futurism, pop-culture arguments, and verbal sparring. Pretentious as it may seem, the best profile of myself I could provide is to say I'm a bit like Levin Constantine from 'Anna Karenina', although with something more a vulgar, child-like edge. I talk with my hands, frequently. I get worked up over problems in the lab. I nurse a personal theory that Taylor Swift and Ke$ha are the same person. And I fence. I bike casually. I dance embarrassingly and with vigour. I play Dungeons & Dragons. I compare myself to characters in Russian literature.

I despise when someone compares my life to Big Bang Theory.

Currently in my 4th year of graduate school, working on my doctorate in Biophysics.

I'm an avid reader, a willing social experimenter, a patient student, and a calm problem solver.

On a bad day, my stony expression. On a good day, my booming laugh. On a warm day, my penchant for Hawaiian t-shirts.

I try to be a gourmand about my entertainment, so it's easier to list movies I hate -- Battlefield:LA; Sucker Punch; The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

I'm on a bit of a kick for Umberto Eco, Alison Bechdal, and Warren Ellis.

Musically, there's a lot of Florence and the Machine, Gogol Bordello, Kultur Shock, Cat Empire. I have a shameful love for Lady Gaga and Ke$ha.

I get enough of the OSU campus when I'm at work -- with the exception of a certain favourite coffee shop, I live and play strictly off campus.

I think about my writing, I think about simplying my wants, I think about whatever science factoid I might have run across recently, I think about politics, I think about Superman, I think about sex and culture and gender, I think about probabilistic methods in intelligent protein design, I think about love and anti-love and other semantics.

It does depend, you know? I try and make it a point to get out and dance every so often, for the good of my soul. But I'm fine looking at art galleries or reading a book. It's hard to predict my weekends, sometimes.

One thing I will say is, I'm not a heavy partier. I'm the guy who tends to stop at one drink and leaves around 1:00.

Because of grad school, my schedule tends to relax and contract like a muscle.
