My self-summary
I'm a Chicago born escaping the Midwest. I can find the humor in just about anything, especially at myself. I have an equal appreciation for both technology and physical activity, so I'm just as prone to be captivated in front of a computer for hours as I am to be intentionally getting lost on an all day bike ride.

I have a deep-seated love of things involving water, particularly
sailing and scuba diving, but enjoy almost all outdoor activities. If I get into a conversation I'm interested in, I can become somewhat animated (and occasionally loud and profane), but otherwise I am usually pretty stoic. It's usually easier to listen than it is to talk.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently, I work for the government (contractor), like 85% of everyone that works in this city. I promise, I'm still somewhat interesting despite that.
I’m really good at
Not really good at any one thing but, I do seem to have an above average skills at most things. Probably not the best at any particular situation, but still useful. I tend to be pretty skilled with my hands (despite, according to some people, them being somewhat large).

Things that I'm relatively good at:
general repair/maintenance
Engaging in completely ridiculous conversations with complete sincerity (zombie survival, morality of killing robots that look like humans, etc.)
The first things people usually notice about me
Physically: my height
Socially: my wit
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: A Song of Ice and Fire series; most things written by Chris Bunch; I, Robot

Movies: 28 Days later; Aliens; Dr. Strangelove; Nolan Batman

Shows: Game of Thrones (or pretty much anything on HBO); Battlestar Galatica; Rick and Morty; Archer

Music: What day is it? My music tastes fluctuate regularly. Some constants: James Brown; Gorillaz; Daft Punk; Red Hot Chili Peppers; during the holiday season: Harry Simeone Chorale

Food: I like all foods; although the dish gets extra points if it has some meat in it. BBQ and sushi rarely disappoint (not together, of course). Macaroni and cheese has been a comfort food since I was a child, a well prepared french toast breakfast (that includes bacon, eggs, and hash-browns) is always appreciated, and I find I can never say no to a lox bagel.
The six things I could never do without
Something new to learn
A project to work on
Something to record/work out my thoughts
A bike (bicycle, not motorcycle)
A good knife (byproduct of sailing; I promise, I am not a serial killer)

Of course, there are some people in my life that I wouldn't want to do without, but I don't consider people THINGS. If you do, you are a terrible, terrible person.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The current and future state of energy systems and nuclear weapon industries and their global ramifications
What direction my life is heading, my next course of action
My next personal project (current front-runner: building a grandfather clock that, instead of chiming on the hour, asks an existential question)
Philosophical and metaphysical questions
What to have for dinner
On a typical Friday night I am
Coming off of a happy hour. After that, who knows?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't spell to save my life; spell check has allowed me to pass for human all these years.
You should message me if
Wait, you're still here? Even after I potentially called you a terrible (2x) person? Message me!
