My self-summary
The Desmond Tutu quote “My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together” defines me. So does the Honey Boo Boo quote "Etiquette classes are for stupid people."

I graduated last May from Kennesaw State University with a Gender and Women's Studies and History degree, which makes me a hot commodity on the jobs market. Consequently, I work in a bakery. I can hook you up with some day-old shit. I have international aspirations in the near future.

I have many passions, among them bánh mì, social and economic justice, and RuPaul's Drag Race.

In my spare time, I party. I also watch and read the news, drink whiskey diets like they're going out of style, and eat Vietnamese food like it's my job.

My personal heroes are César Chávez, Bobby Kennedy, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Lilly Ledbetter, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. My personal drag queen hero is Jinkx Monsoon. Werk.

RuPaul is my life coach and spiritual leader. If that sounds silly to you, you clearly haven't familiarized yourself with the words and the works of RuPaul Charles.

I'm obsessed with everything political. I'm a proud, vocal, fiery Progressive, but I'm not an asshole about it. I am all up on Rachel Maddow's junk...Figuratively.

I'm a bit of an Islamophile. I'm especially a Turkophile. I have a general love affair with Turkish/Middle Eastern/Indian people, food, culture, food, art, and food.

...Don't take me, or life for that matter, too seriously.
What I’m doing with my life
I just earned an Integrative Studies degree with concentrations in Gender and Women's Studies and History. I'm working retail because, as GaGa says, "That's money, honey." Needless to say, this is a stepping stone job.

I recently earned my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification and was ranked #1 teacher in the class (!!). I studied Turkish art history in İstanbul in the summer of 2010 and fell in love with the city.

I'm moving to İstanbul in the Fall. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get to know me. "Life is what happens when we're making other plans," said John Lennon, Jesus, and probably Socrates.
I’m really good at
Putting myself in other people's shoes. That makes me a pretty good friend, teacher, date, lover, etc.

I have to remind myself to stay in my own shoes most of the time.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes, my height, and my irreverence. And that I'm a Yankee.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Chinatown, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Triplets of Belleville, King Kong (2005), The Corporation, Nausicaä Of The Valley Of The Wind, WALL•E, Spirited Away...If Benoît Charest or Hayao Miyazaki have anything to do with a film, I will watch it and I will LOVE it.

Shows: The Golden Girls, Roseanne, Futurama, Barefoot Contessa, The Vicar of Dibley, Travel Channel is my default, and so on and so forth. I don't actually WATCH television. I just kind of have it on to keep me company, like an old person would...

Music: Lady GaGa, RuPaul, M.I.A, Sharon Needles, Adele, Sheryl Crow has changed my life, Scissor Sisters, Queen, Missy Elliott, Mika, Dolly Parton, John Lennon, The Killers, Madonna, Lauryn Hill, and so many more...GaGa and RuPaul are my dueling divas, and I don't even care how gay that sounds.

Food: Vietnamese is, hands down, my favorite food. Banh mi, pho, bun, com...all washed down with bubble tea...Like, I think I need to move to Vietnam. I could eat banh mi for every meal, every day. The single best dish I've ever had, though, is six mussels caught in the Marmara Sea, stuffed with rice and spices, boiled, and drizzled with lemon juice. Until you've had them, you'll just never understand.
The six things I could never do without
1. Hope
2. Love
3. Strong, Cheap Drinks
4. Bánh mì
5. My Beard
6. Archbishop Desmond Tutu
7. Defiance
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Quitting my job and moving to Istanbul, why finding dudes I like and who like me is seemingly fucking impossible in a city of 5.5 million, and what I'm going to do when Betty White, the last Golden Girl, passes on to that big St. Olaf in the sky.
On a typical Friday night I am
out on the town with my Lesbians. At Burkhart's and/or Blake's...This usually involves me wearing flannel and Birkenstocks and, for some reason, getting plied with free drinks all night by a bartender with a mullet. Well, that was at LeBuzz. On Ladies' Night. True story.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think this site should change its web address to Forreal tho.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like guys
  • Ages 22–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating
You should message me if want a summer boy. Srsly.

*Because of my experiences on here, I assume all the men on here are evil. Evil basic bitches. Convince me that you're not evil, and maybe we can talk. Maybe.*

With full knowledge that I will be the newest resident of Istanbul in the Fall, I am looking for casual dating/friends with benefits. Emphasis on the dating. Emphasis on the benefits. I've dated enough to know what I want and to know what I don't want. I generally like guys who are younger than me, Latinoer or Asianer than me, and ones open to adventures. That's my history at least. Boring, basic bitches need not apply. I feel like I'm an island in a sea of basic bitches on here. Like, a really exciting island. With mai tai stands everywhere.
