So here’s my spiel:

I grew up just outside of New Orleans and have lived in NYC for nearly twelve years. I pride myself on being a Southern Gentleman. You know the basic chivalrous acts that a fellow should do.

I'm a pretty laid back person and it takes a lot to rile me. That's not to say that I can't be passionate about the things I care about. I've been known to go on for quite a while about French New Wave Cinema and it's importance on 70's American film and it's ramifications on 90's Indie film. So with that said, yeah I'm a bit of a geek too.

A good friend described me as an Optimistic Cynic. I mostly agree with that assessment except I would actually reverse it and say I'm more of a Cynical Optimist. Meaning that I'm usually a fairly upbeat and hopeful person but also realistic, to put it nicely, in my expectations. Does that make a lick of sense?

Finally and most importantly, and hopefully this won't scare too many people away, I have two middle school aged kids who live with me part time and are the biggest part of who I am as a person. Being their dad, and being a fantastic dad, is huge part of life and makes me who I am.

So yeah, that's my spiel.

Trying to figure out how to squeeze 36 hours into a day.

Professionally I'm in a bit of transition right now. To pay the bills I work as a freelance editor cutting mainly commercials and music videos. Recently I started my own production company with two of my friends in order to create our own work. The idea being that this will become our full time jobs.

These two things keep me pretty damn busy and can throw my schedule into absolute chaos.

knowing a lot of useless knowledge about a lot of things, especially movies. Making people laugh. Fixing a damn good cup of coffee. Using either old fashion phrases or good ole southernisms in typical conversations.

If I had to guess, it's that I look younger than I am. I always say my age doesn't fit me. I look 5 years younger on the outside but feel 5 years older on the inside.

Music: Sonic Youth, Pixies, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, The Rolling Stones, Mike Watt, Radiohead, Stereolab, The Flaming Lips, Archers of Loaf, Yo La Tengo, Spiritualized, Broken Social Scene, Jesus & Mary Chain, Public Enemy, Pavement, Earlimart, film soundtracks, My Bloody Valentine, Cursive, Daft Punk, Home Video, The xx, The Velvet Underground, etc....

Films: Kubrick, Truffaut, Malick, Aronofsky, Godard, Paul Thomas Anderson, Hitchcock, Tarantino, Coen Brothers, Sidney Lumet, David Fincher, Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry, Stan Brakhage, Edgar Wright, tons more and the movie Oscar with Sylvester Stallone. Seriously that movie cracks me up. The art of film is a really big deal to me, if you couldn't tell.

TV: Community is currently my favorite thing on tv. I would compare it to the British tv series Spaced, which I also loved. The rest of my tv list would be Simpsons, 30 Rock, South Park, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Parks and Recreation, Veep, Dexter, Californication, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Inbetweeners, 120 Minutes, The Daily Show - if I don't watch it the day it airs I won't watch it. I'm weird like that.

Books: Film Books, Don DeLillo, Michael Chabon, Kafka, Phillip K. Dick, Jim Thompson, Borges. I really wish I had more time to read lately.

Food: I'm not picky and will try just about anything. Of course I love good, authentic cajun food. And I'm pretty damn good at making it too.

movies, coffee, nice weather, big old cities, my music collection, and of course my kiddos.

Why are there so few pictures of me? Somebody else can take the pictures sometime.

depends on the Friday night. Some nights I may be at a small, comfortable bar having a few beers with friends and telling stories. Another Friday I may be stuck at work trying to meet a nearly impossible deadline or at home writing away. I might have a few friends over to hang out. Or simply sitting on the couch watching a movie.

you mean other than having an appreciation for a Sylvester Stallone comedy?

Chances are if I look at somebody's profile the first thing I read is the movies/music/books section. I think you can tell a lot about person by their taste, not good or bad but compatibility.

I was married for ten years and though we haven't been together for four years now I still consider my ex-wife one of my best friends.
