Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a bit of a geek - I work in IT and I like to unwind by playing
video games or reading the internet. I'm a movie buff who enjoys
good movies and terrible movies equally (the latter usually with
drink in hand). I enjoy intelligent conversation with intelligent
people, and goofing around with goofy people. Often these are the
I've recently taken an larger interest in the outdoors and I'm
interested in getting into hiking and exploring (geocaching sounds
fun!). I'm also interested in doing more travelling, and I'm keen
to meet someone who wants to share some adventures.
I used to have a long essay here about myself, but I've realised
it's better to leave some mystery intact. I'm not a big fan of
extended online conversations, I find them stilted and impersonal;
I would much rather meet up for a coffee or a drink and have a
chat. You never really know whether you are going to get along with
someone until you meet them face to face!
I'm not looking for a fling or a one night stand. Been there, done
that. Having said that, I'm not expecting a serious relationship
right off the bat, just something with the potential to become one.
Start by having fun together, then see what develops.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work in IT as a software developer in the financial sector. My
hobbies including gaming (all kinds - video, role-playing, board,
card), watching films, and exploring Wellington's food scene.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Picking up new things. Remembering trivial information.
Understanding both sides of an argument. Remembering the names of
those actors where everyone goes 'hey it's that guy/girl!'.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My hair (yes, it's naturally that colour).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - I'm not a huge fiction reader, but I like sci-fi/fantasy
mostly, along with 'airport' fiction like Lee Child et al.
Movies - I'm a movie nut, I'll watch pretty much anything. I love
smart blockbusters; The Dark Knight is probably my favorite
Hollywood film. But I also dig indie films (when they aren't too
pretentious). Anything with good writing and good acting is a
must-watch for me regardless of the subject matter.
Shows (going to assume this means TV rather than Broadway ;) - Like
movies, I watch and enjoy a wide range of TV. Recent favorites
include Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica,
Homeland, Archer, Fringe, and heaps more. At the moment I am
binging through Arrow, which is suprisingly good, though silly at
Music - I like anything with a good beat to it and some depth. NIN,
Tool, Skrillex, Daft Punk, Beastie Boys, and more traditional stuff
like Radiohead, U2, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, the list goes
Food - I will try anything once, and there isn't much I don't like
(though I'm not a huge fan of seafood, generally speaking). Some
favorites: pasta, curries, pretty much any Asian cuisine
(especially Japanese and Thai). Also love to tuck into a burger and
fries every now and then.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The Internet, hot showers, games, movies, wine, conversation.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything! I always want to know more about whatever I'm doing or
plan to be doing. Knowledge is power. I spend a lot of time online
just reading about all kinds of things, even things that aren't
remotely relevant to my day-to-day life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Having a drink with my workmates then either catching up with
friends, or having a quiet night in watching TV shows or playing
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I talk to myself a lot. I'm not crazy though, honest.
