My profile is all-new with 20% more vitamins and iron (as of 08/17/09)!

Well, there's all that physical stuff - blue eyes, brown hair, average height. I take fairly good care of myself physically. I try to exercise every day. I eat good healthy foodstuffs. I like to challenge myself mentally, so I'm still fairly sharp. I work on having a good attitude being in a good mood. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, although it's something I need to be mindful of because sometimes it does not come naturally.

I grew up in Alaska (with two years spent in Japan). I went off to college in Idaho. I went back to Alaska for a few years, and I wound up down here in Portland. I absolutely love it here. I work out of state every other two weeks, so I tend to have a pretty good amount of free time when I'm home but coordination can be difficult. I usually have free time during the day, which normally doesn't work out very well for other people, but if you have a non-traditional job and want to hang out, I'm your man.

I am in a long-term, committed relationship currently, and most of my normal recreational hours are spent with her. She's not around here anymore, alas, but heck - if you meet me who knows? you might meet her too!

Walking around town, biking around town, watching movies, driving my car, playing guitar, listening to music, going to concerts, watching football or hockey, exercising, cooking, trying to amuse people that I love, trying to amuse people that I like, trying to amuse people that don't care one way or another in the hopes that they'll start to care, getting involved, hanging out with friends, tippling, playing games, working, trying to make some things better.

Talking about music. My job. Talking about football. Writing and editing.

I'm ok at cooking.

I don't think I'm particularly humble, so I don't know exactly what this says about me. I'm ok at the internet and computers, but nowadays everyone is. I'm pretty good at shopping and spending money economically and figuring out tips.

I have an idea - why don't you get in touch with me and show me something you do well, and teach me about it?

I'm guessing they notice that I seem kind of shy. I've certainly been noticing this about myself. I think it's because I work in sort of a closed system where everyone I meet are work associates. It changes the dynamic, and I'm at work 24 hours a day for two weeks straight, so I'm sort of a different person for that whole time. It's something that is interesting for me to think about.

People also, I think, find me amusing. I make people laugh. I'm a clown, and I'm here to amuse you (with apologies to Joe Pesci in Goodfellas).

I like my time off. I like a drink or two. I love to read, and screw off on the internet, and hang out with friends. I really like playing guitar, but I need more practice. I like kisses. I like feeling skin against my skin. I really love my cats.

I'd have a hard time doing without my partner. I love her more than anything in the world.

Where I will be and what life is going to be like in 10/20/30 years, and how far things have come in the last 10/20/30 years. Just think about how much effort it would have taken 20 years ago to access the amount of information at your fingertips in an hour of work with your computer. It's mind-boggling.

The nature of humor, and why different people will find different things so funny and other things not funny at all. I don't think "LOL" is funny at all, but I think "do not want" is very funny indeed.

Why I find what I find sexy. Where that sort of thing comes from. Why that's so different from person to person, and why it's so wonderful that two (or more) people can get together on that and make it beautiful.

When I was a somewhat precocious youngster, I would read words (I love to read) and not know how they were pronounced. So when I was a kind, I though "society" was pronounced "so-shitty" because that's the way the word "social" works. In a way, it sort of makes sense, for some values of society.

I notice some people write "if I told you it wouldn't be private" here. Well, if that's the case for you, consider thinking about something that's slightly less private, and admit that. Just keep going back through your mind, and eventually you will come across something you haven't told the internet that you are comfortable sharing. Write that in this box.
