My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a geek - of the tinkering sort, though I also enjoy going out for drinks or to see music. In terms of general topics, I'm interested in science and technology, particularly chemistry, pharmacology, and engineering. My sense of humor is geeky, sarcastic, and a bit dark at times. I'm loyal to friends and in relationships, and am generally kind and forgiving. I've been told that I'm a good listener, and am good at comforting people when they're down. 420-friendly.

I enjoy playing pinball, and own two pinball machines, both in good condition (No Fear and Twilight Zone), I attend local tournaments, and recently won one. I like pinball for the way it incorporates a real aspect, versus video games which have rules that are entirely arbitrary.

I'm by nature a problem-solver. I like tinkering, by which I mean fixing or modifying things, physical or electronic (a bit of a necessity for a pinball machine owner). I've customized or modified a lot of the furniture and decor in my apartment, and I've usually got a few projects going at any given time. I'd love to meet someone who I could collaborate on projects with (decorative, practical, physical or electronic, or some combination of these).

I'm pretty shy about sending messages on here - feel free to message me :-)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I graduated from WPI with a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering, having done my thesis on fuel cell chemistry. Currently working in the totally unrelated field of software.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I particularly like the technical aspects of decorating - rigging up cool lighting (I use Christmas lights as general illumination - and I can control them from my phone, even when I'm not at home) or tying together electronics for playing music or what-have-you. My desk is totally custom built, and I have made considerable modifications to other furniture in my apartment.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Movements/body language/gestures maybe? I do a great impression of throwing money away when I'm talking about something I think is wasteful.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I don't watch movies or television much. I can watch shows if I'm with someone, but I don't like watching alone.

I rarely read books, though I frequently read news and science magazines. The Economist is one of my favorites. One of the few books I read recently was "Coming Apart", which was a fascinating examination of how the cultural split in America has come about - it's interesting background for understanding the polarized mess we're in now.

I mostly listen to power metal, and related sub-genres of metal. Some of my favorite bands are Iron Maiden, Helloween and Aria (the Russian metal band, not the other Aria). I like some folk metal (Finntroll, Heidevolk), as well. I also like an assortment of other music, usually just one song by a band very different from my usual tastes.

I mostly like simple foods done well; pasta, pizza, grilled cheese, hamburgers, chicken. I am not a fan of most ethnic foods, though I can go for tacos or nachos. I go for cocktails and mixed shots, or decent beer - I'm not a fan of wine.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
* Internet
* free time
* pinball
* coffee/tea
* smartphone
* candy... I have a real weakness for it...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How an ideal country/society should be... It seems like there's not one country in the world that's coming close to meeting their full potential. I wonder whether democracy will be able to produce stable and effective governance in the future - with the people manipulated by well funded advertising and lazy and biased journalists... but what alternatives could there be to bring about a better world?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Relaxing at home, probably working on some project - or hanging out with friends, more often at someone's apartment than out at a bar.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you think we'd get along and are looking for a relationship.

If you do creative/constructive projects of your own and you like the idea of working on a project with me..

If you recognize or like any of the bands I did. Seriously, I don't know anyone in real life who has similar taste in music, and I'd really like to be able to talk about it...
