My name's Mike. I'm a 24 year-old guy and an up-and-coming entrepreneur. I'm assertive, driven and sometimes opinionated, but I have a good heart and I like to help people and make strong connections, personally and professionally. I am a complete and total nerd, and I will be the first to admit it, but I balance that with a decent degree of social aptitude. I work very hard, but I'm sure to always make time to play hard too.

I have 8 years of IT work experience and 5 years of web design and databasing experience. I work as a web design project manager for a local IT and design firm. I'm constantly developing my skills and researching as many tech-related niches as I can find while I gain the work experience to climb up the ladder. I'm not necessarily married to the idea of staying in Florida, but it's working for now.

When I'm not working, relaxing or gaming - especially retro stuff - there's a chance I'm trying out some new beer, playing poker, singing or drumming. I'm also heavily into running and working out, and training for getting back into shape and doing distance running after an operation. I also really love the NFL and NHL, and I watch and play tennis. I don't go out a ton because I really don't love the nightlife around here, but I'm always outgoing and extroverted when I do get out. I'm more of a fan of meeting someone and getting to know and fit into a group of friends - that's my favorite way to meet people.

...getting people organized, whether it's personally or professionally. I'm a good listener, and I will always do my best to give unbiased advice.
I've been a singer for 12+ years and although I don't sing nearly as much as I used to and I'm no longer in a band, it's still a really big deal to me. I also used to do community theatre when I was younger and I still am into musicals and the like.

Honestly, my personality. That's not a cop-out; in social scenes I'm doing what I can to mingle and make interesting conversation. I like to mix things up. Physically, though? I've been told it's my eyes. They're very light-sensitive and they change from blue to green and everything in between.

There is WAY too much to put here, so here's what I've been watching/reading/listening to/eating lately. These are in no particular order and are by no means an exhaustive list.

Books: Kushiel's Legacy trilogy, Only Revolutions, Eats, Shoots & Leaves, The Element of Fire, Kitchen Confidential, The Silmarillion, Between the Two Rivers, etc. I need to work on Game of Thrones like everyone else.

Music: Kimbra, Metric, fun., The Decemberists, Bush, Blaqk Audio, Rush, Daft Punk, Florence & The Machine, Grimes, Kaki King, My Darkest Days, Marina & the Diamonds, Bjork, Sleigh Bells, The Mars Volta, The White Stripes, Gotye, etc. etc. ad infinitum.Lots of oldies, house and jazz, too.
Also, musicals! Spring Awakening, Rent, Jersey Boys, etc. Also enjoy Irish, Russian, and east Asian music.

Movies: The Illusionist (quite possibly my favorite movie), The Ides of March, Princess Mononoke, The Avengers, Moulin Rouge!, Hanna, I Heart Huckabees, My Blueberry Nights, Inception, Runaway Jury, etc.

TV: I don't really ever watch TV, but I do like Community, Dollhouse, Fringe, HIMYM (sorta) and pretty much anything on Food Network, History or Discovery. I do like anime, but I'm extremely picky about it. FLCL, Excel Saga, Elfen Lied, GITS:SAC to name a few.

Food: Okay, I know this is certifiably insane but other than most kinds of pizza, salad and cheesecake, I don't like cheese. Like, I *really* don't. I will not eat a cheeseburger. Pretty much anything else is fair game.

coffee, computers, music, socializing, purpose, and.... coffee.

...how to better myself professionally, in every way. I think about how to innovate and provide real work-life solutions in my industry. I don't need to be famous from what I do for a living, but I want to make a difference, even if it's just at the operational level. I'm also kind of a music theory nerd and I'm always analyzing music that I like a little bit too much.

...usually unwinding from a long work week by hanging out with a choice group of friends, having a beer, talking about fun and/or debauchery and playing video games. That or getting early sleep for an early morning 5K.

I'm surprisingly terrified of lightning, although not to the point of astraphobia. I don't mind stormy weather otherwise - hell, I was born and raised in Florida - but I saw something in my childhood that pretty much made me hate lightning.
