My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a complete goofball and a serious nerd at heart. I'll quote Doctor Who to you all day long and have found ways to computerize (is that a word?) most of my house. BI spend a lot of my time outdoors grilling, cycling, kayaking, hiking, and drinking homemade beer in a hammock.

I'm a Midwestern transplant who came out here after spending a while living overseas and I'm still having a hard time adjusting to Boston weather!

A few of my favorite things are thunderstorms in the summer, cider donuts in the fall, snow days in the winter, and early morning fishing trips in the spring.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've done a lot with my life so far. In the past I've been a pilot, a riding instructor, a chef, a teacher, an IT guy, a security consultant, a military man, and a violist. Today, I manage datacenter operations, IT, and IT security for a tech startup out of Westborough.

I've lived and lost my dream. At this point, I work so that I can afford to enjoy my free time, which I spend cycling, hiking, camping, kayaking, skydiving, etc. I suppose that's a roundabout way of saying I'm bad at saving money, but I'm enjoying the ride!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
You know those puns that make you groan? Those.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I get a lot of comments on my eyes - they shift between green and blue.

I'm Scottish and Irish by descent - We get sunburned from watching fireworks. I often get told I'm a little red, as if people think I just haven't noticed.

EDIT: after a 180-mile weekend on the bike (and after forgetting sunscreen for a 7-hour leg of said ride), I now look red, white, and blue when I wear blue t-shirts. Thank you complexion!

Movies: Star Trek, Rush, Top Gun, Stripes, Caddy Shack, Ghost Busters, Lost in Translation, and any of about a dozen others.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Aside from my family and friends, there's a lot I could do without. As long as I have a project / destination / goal that I'm moving toward, I'm a happy guy!

My Specialized Tarmac certainly makes things more fun, though!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How much time is too much for Duolingo and Team Treehouse?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Getting a beer with friends and figuring out what to do on Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I shave my legs during cycling season. In terms of comfort, it makes a much bigger difference than you might think. In terms of speed, who knows?

I once had an elk attempt to eat my hammock while I was sleeping in it down in the Smoky Mountains. There's a great video of it on YouTube.
