My Notes edit

My self-summary

Um. . .hi?

I'm a rather different person from California (where different people are a dime a dozen! (just kidding, guys!)). I grew up in Northern California (well, the central valley), but am now going to college in Southern California, so there's quite a contrast.

In general I like to think of myself as a nice person. While I do have a mean sarcastic streak, I assure you it's all in good fun and in reality I just want to be friends (or at least civil) with everyone. I really enjoy just hanging out with a few friends and just doing whatever, or even nothing at all. (I've spend hours with friends wandering around a mostly-closed downtown district at night, for example). I love good conversation, even if I'm not the best at maintaining/starting it myself. I'll at least try to talk with people about anything they're interested in, and if they happen to hit one of the topics I'm into, they might drown in the flood of information I may just cough up on them as soon as I start talking.

I like doing a lot of things, including but not limited to: playing/working on/trying to un-brick computers, reading webcomics, playing video/computer games with people, roofing, exercising (when I can get myself to do it and have the time), procrastinating, and listening to loads and loads of music. I'm also known to hike and go backpacking from time to time, although that probably won't happen around Southern California too often. (Unless you want to take me? Otherwise, I'm pretty much stuck, as I have no car and all of my gear is up at my parent's house in Northern California). Despite any complaining that might occur on my behalf on any given outdoor trip, I really do enjoy them, especially when they're with good company.

What I'm doing with my life

I'm currently going to college at UCI, with a Computer Science major (although that may change in the future to an Information and Computer science major; we'll see). After I finish up with college (I'm a freshman now, so it'll be a while), I want to design/make video and computer games.

I'm really good at

Dancing, surprisingly enough. I did tap for about 10 years, took a few years of ballet, and recently learned (and taught) ballroom, latin, and swing dance. (Swing is my favorite, because it is super-fun and has incredible music). Sadly, however, I'm a mediocre salsa dancer at best. But I would be willing to learn!

I'm also pretty okay with computers. I enjoy tinkering with them and building them and just using them in general. Which I guess partially explains why I'm here. : ) However, sometimes my upgrading experiences just remind me of this: http://xkcd.com/349/ .

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My hair. It's rather long.

And I guess my odd/quirky/insane personality, but that can largely depend on how tired I am when I first meet them. The better I know you the more I tend towards insane, though. Just though I should warn you.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Catcher in the Rye, anything by Terry Pratchett, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Dark Tower Series (Stephen King)

Movies: The Matrix, Serenity, 10 Things I Hate About You (this would be a guilty pleasure if it wasn't just incredible anyway)

Music: I like a lot of different types of music, but right now I'm really into The Postal Service, and I often listen to artists like Dido, Iron & Wine, a whole bunch of celtic stuff including Tempest (celtic rock), and t r y ^ d (yes, that's inputted correctly)

Food: I like a lot of food, but really love pasta, especially tortellini in alfredo sauce with garlic bread. Mmmm. . .

*Other stuff*

Video Games: Final Fantasy X, Fallout 3, Oni, Metal Gear Solid (the series), and really any RPG or Shooter you can throw at me, although I'll definitely play anything once.

TV Shows: Doctor Who, Eureka, Firefly, Heroes, NCIS, The Daily Show With John Stewart, The Colbert Report.

The six things I could never do without

1. Friends
2. My Computers (various and nefarious)
3. Music of all sorts
4. Dance
5. Webcomics (I'll admit it, I'm addicted)
6. The Internet

I also need water, being carbon-based and all that, but I sort of figured that was assumed.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How to make virtual reality input actually work (more like Otherland than Tron, and I realize and am sorry that that's not a helpful comparison for most people), how tired I am, if I remember various ballroom dance steps, my friends that are far away and how they're doing, video games, and my characters in my various stories (fiction that I write, not soap operas) and what to do with them.

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually in, chilling out on my computer or hanging out with dormmates. I'd love to go out somewhere if given the opportunity, though.

In an ideal world, I'd be out swing dancing at a club where I knew everybody, but that's probably a pipe dream for at least right now.

You should message me if

You want a date or a friend. I'm up for either!

I'll admit a preference for proper spelling and grammar, but I'll have you know I don't have any length requirements. If you send me an essay, I'll still read it, so don't be afraid to write me a long message if you feel like it.
