(RECAP: I recently got my tongue pierced. See my last Journal post
for the immediate aftermath!)
My tongue is no longer a constant well of agony and hilarity, for now it is the location of a much more maddening sensation: it itches. I know healing is accompanied by itchiness, but that doesn't make the sensation any less surreal. I'm not used to my tongue being anything but there or in mild pain when I bite it, burn it, or shove sterilized, sharpened pieces of metal through it. Now it itches, and this is so disturbing that I actually don't mind all that much when it settles down for a bit of stinging pain.
Hey, I DO mind. Itchiness is strange, but pain hurts. It's just a minor relief, is all.
Anyway, tomorrow marks the end of the first week of my recuperation. Two or three more to go before I can go out and show off my new body mod without cringing internally with fear as to whether or not I'm going to accidentally do something that'll bifurcate my tongue.
This Friday I'm going into court to contest a ticket since the guy who gave it to me essentially told me that he wouldn't be there. I got it for not obeying a sign that is ambiguous in meaning and hidden out of sight until you either have already obeyed it or failed to obey it.
Yeah.
Anyway, I'm off to work. Wish me luck!
