I spent nearly all my life in Britain, but moved to New York last year to do grad school. Since then I've spent most of my time finding out how awesome NY is and how boring the UK is in comparison. And eating a ridiculous number of burritos.

Doing a PhD in philosophy. So I think about obscure topics a lot, I'm currently thinking about the nature of probability and what it means to say that something is a law of nature. I write some of my thoughts down.

Feeling surprised and faintly guilty that I get paid to do that.

Maxing and Relaxing.

Music: So much stuff. Recently I've been listening to a lot of: The Magnetic Fields, Alt-J, Kendrick Lamar, Orange Juice, Erin McKeown, Tim Hecker, The New Pornographers, Julia Holter, The National, Metronomy and R Kelly. Also I really like exploring different genres; recently I've been listening to lot of 80s Twee Pop.

Books: Our Man in Havana, The Secret History, Consider the Lobster, Winnie the Pooh, The Handmaid's Tale

TV: Friday Night Lights, Parks and Rec, Community, any cooking-based reality TV show

Movies are overrated.

Sports - I've been playing team sport since I was about 4. I'm pretty competitive. Though the weird British sports that I play, like cricket and field hockey, aren't big over here, so I've had to find new ones. Like I've just taken up rock climbing.

Whiskey -- seriously, scotch is awesome.

Podcasts -- good ones make me actually enjoy my subway journey.

Live music -- In fact, I try very hard to go without live music, otherwise I would be going to shows every night.

People willing to listen to me ramble about philosophy -- fortunately I have a few of those.

Cities -- In particular, living in one.

Nearly everything. I have a habit of over-intellectualising stuff.

Whether I'm constantly failing to notice puns. I just got the pun in 'Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit' a couple of days ago.

Hanging out with friends. Though actually, on Friday I'm probably at the gym or at home, because Friday night is lame. It's all about going out Thursday and Saturday and skipping Friday.

I lost my last pair of glasses skinny-dipping off the Jersey Shore.
