My self-summary
I live in a college town, which suits me: I’m offbeat and introspective, open to debate and believe in “live-and-let-live” with mutual consent. I like to learn about how things and people work. I’m scholastically inclined while still loving a good party. I have a soft spot for academics and researchers, philosophers and artists.
What I’m doing with my life
I’m raising an awesome kid, and I’m lucky that the two of us are surrounded with friends who are creative, thoughtful and kind.
I’m really good at
Being a great sounding board for ideas and challenges
Scoring wastepaper basket hoops
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Long Home, William Gay; anything by Larry Brown
Movies and Plays: Lone Star with Chris Cooper; Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Music: Every version of “Stardust” ever made; Django Reinhardt; Sade; Chris Botti; Southern rock
Food: Light Mediterranean in the summer; hearty German/Irish in winter
The six things I could never do without
Something to put my feet in – a pool, a mountain stream, or cool, freshly plowed dirt
Hearing my child say, “Good night, Mom”
Thoughtful debate over great food
A good laugh – a good belly shaker is even better
Growing something – tomatoes, a child, a friendship
A good story
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to be a better parent
Which people would make good characters in a book
On a typical Friday night I am
Gathering with my friends for a break-down of the week, or building Legos with my kid
You should message me if
“We are happy when, for everything inside us, there is a corresponding something outside us.” (Not me, but William Butler Yeats.)

BTW, I can't see "Likes," so I won't know until you message me.
