Movies: Harold and Maud, Wallace and Gromit, Monty Python, XXY,
Shortbus, Secretary, the Princess Bride, Dirty Dancing, The
Intouchables (the most recent movie I saw in the theater - a
wonderful french film), the Life of Birds and other David
Attenborough documentaries - to name a few.
Books: I tend to read fiction in fits and starts but often go for
science fiction - especially young adult sci-fi by authors such as
Terry Prachett, and Neil Gaiman. I also go through phases of
reading historical or darker fiction and enjoy Annie Proulx,
Barbara Kingsolver, etc. The non-fiction I tend to read (especially
now that I'm out of grad school) is about nature, natural history,
science, emotions, spirituality and sexuality. Michael Pollen, Paul
Farmer, Brene Brown, Pema Chodron, and Frans De Waal are just some
of the authors I enjoy.
Music: I tend towards the folky in the music department. But like
lots of different music - the Beetles, Cat Stevens, Michelle Shock,
MaMuse, Tori Amos, Natalia Atlas, Iron & Wine, Gillian Welch,
Bob Dylan, Leon Redbone, etc., and enjoy dancing to a pretty
diverse mix of tribal / electronica.
Food: I have a number of food sensitivities so I eat simply - lost
of veggies and fruit. I'm pretty good at gluten-free baking and can
make a mean pie! (Right now I'm really enjoying eating out of my
mom's garden - lost of summer squash, carrots, green beans,
cucumbers, and tomatoes)
