I am Quiet, Clever, and Quirky.

My Self-Summary

Closet writer and myth maker trying to enjoy the journey of where to next on the highway of life.
I'm pretty quirky with a quick wit and engaging sense of humor, which ranges from dry to silly. During the day, I am making a stopover to skillfully pose as an admin to pay the bills.

What I’m doing with my life

I am working on going back to school in the Spring. I'm not sure which direction I want to go in, though I have been contemplating Law School or just taking some classes to brush up on my writing skills.

I'm a Pagan and a Universalist Unitarian (UU), so I suppose I'm a double progressive (gaming joke).

As far as the day-to-day goes, I volunteer at 3 square, a local food bank. Other than I work 50 hours a week at a casino in admin, which is a very surreal experience. I hang out with friends, read, write prose and poetry, draw, make jewelery and incense, belly dance, and try to think up ways to take over the world with the cunning use of flags.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:Mostly non-fiction but I do hold a special place in my heart for Tolkien, Frost, Pratchett, Rowling, Angelou, Dickenson, Austen, Huxely, Ginsberg, Steinbeck, Bradbury, and Shakespeare. I also enjoy Mythology, Cultural Studies, History, Art, Comedy, the occasional cereal box, and guilty pleasures like the periodic bodice ripper or piece of fanfiction. Joseph Campbell is my homeboy.

Movies: Generally, comedies, fantasies, classic B-movies and/or social commentaries. For example: Harold and Maude, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Dr.Strangelove, Dogma, Stardust, Shrek, Austin Powers, Wickerman (original 1970's version), and whatever is speaking to me in that moment. Not a big fan of horror or random violence.

Music: A wide range varying from Jazz to Rockabilly to Fusion Bagpipe. Some favorites include: Barenaked Ladies, Dresdon Dolls, Rusted Root, Cowboy Mouth, Yeller Bellies, the Slim Picken's, Rosin Coven, Eartha Kit, Billy Holiday, Incus, Sister Hazel, Dar Williams, Wendy Rule, Tempest, Wicked Tinkers, Paula Cole, Alanis, Tori Amos, Avenue Q, Shakira and anything with lots and lots of drums.

Food: Vegetarian but being a good UU I'm non-proselytizing and support others in their right to eat whatever diet works best for them. I really like Mediterranean, Japanese, Thai, and Indian.

The six things I could never do without

My family, my friends, laughter, music, intelligent conversation and the belief that there are still things of value in this world that cannot be quantified, measured and sold in standardized units to the highest bidder.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Where are we going as a culture, society, and species? And why didn't Gandalf just have the eagles drop the ring into Mount Doom in the first place?

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Never trust Magneto and always bring a towel.
