...wow, that was a disappointing change.
Hopefully things will change around a bit starting in the 2013-2014 school year. Until then... chaos and madness!
When I'm not at one of the works, I'm a bit of a homebody who needs an excuse to get out once and a while. So I tend to be a bit of a social gamer, started taking a dance class, and joined Couch Surfing. So far, so good. But any excuse to be social is welcome.
...teacher voice. The tone that says, "Stern, but compassionate. Patient, but expecting results. Professional, but snarky as hell."
...singing. So long as it's in the car.
...complaining. But I only do so in the must amusing way possible.
...not using my phone. Seriously, I go for days not looking at that thing.
...typing and proofreading. When I feel like it.
...self-confidence. I am awesome. I'm just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up and realize that.
Well, probably not. Tough question, though, since I see myself every day. So the first thing I notice is usually, "Wow, I look like I was beaten with sleep." (Sidenote: Not a morning person.)
After an informal survey of people who are not me, I've gotten such answers as:
--Man, you short. [Leave it to the students to focus on the important things...]
--Dude, your eyebrows are hoss. [Not sure exactly what they meant... compliment?]
--You sound like you should be a voice actor. [Acceptable.]
I'm curious to see what other people notice first. But it's hard to tell from this wall-of-text.
--The Dresden Files
--The Hangman's Daughter
--Cloud Atlas (note: book is infinitely superior to movie)
--What is this... "Mooo-vee" of which you speak?
--Seriously... I don't watch many movies at all.
--Melodramatic space documentaries
--Ancient Aliens and other crazy-trash
--Recently been on a kick of country and bluegrass-inspired groups. Delta Rae, Hooray for the Riff Raff, Avett Brothers, Mumford and Sons.
--Unique sounds. CocoRosie, The Ditty Bops, old school Rasputina, Bjork.
--Lots more and with great variety. Although I tend not to listen to the popular songs... no reason, just don't really do it.
--I love food. Somewhat picky about ingredients (tomatoes and mushrooms are usually no-nos, for instance.)
--The spicier, the better.
--Korean. Kimchi FTW.
--Vietnamese. Although I still pronounce it "foh" instead of "fuh."
On the grand map of geekiness, I'm square set in the gamer geek category.
Once a month, give or take, I will force myself to take some time off and decompress. Usually, that involves trips out into that crazy nature place. And costumes. And sometimes, plumbing supplies.
(If you don't know, you'll have to ask.)
