I am curious, verbose, and open minded.

My Self-Summary

I would describe myself as intelligent and curious. I work in the IT field, and I do have a geeky/nerdy side, but I pride myself in being able to converse about a wide range of topics with just about anyone. I enjoy hearing other people’s opinions and I seldom try to convert them to my own point of view – just understanding where they are coming from is interesting to me. I consider myself open-minded and I welcome a healthy debate. I really enjoy “deep” conversations over drinks about nothing in particular (seemingly insignificant details often intrigue me… No wonder I’m a fan of Seinfeld).

I always appreciate having new experiences – trying a new restaurant or a new type of food, teaching myself a new song on guitar, traveling... Learning anything new is my idea of a good time – My thirst for knowledge will never be fully quenched :-) I also like being around creative (and/or quirky) people as it tends to fire my own creativity. Let’s see… what else. Autumn is my favorite season. I’m one of the few guys I know that isn’t really into sports and will admit to actually liking cats (I like how they all seem to be such individuals and have their own personality). I love words and will often try to pepper my speech with odd words for my own amusement… especially when they are fun to say like ubiquitous, discombobulate, glockenspiel, uvula, bonafide, etc. I know when to be serious, but I can also be really goofy and silly. It could strike at any time, but it's mostly late at night and/or when I've had too much caffeine :-)

I often tell people that I’m easily amused and it’s true – I’ve always had a gift for being able to take pleasure in simple things. Most days you’ll find me happy, upbeat, and laid back. I can usually find at least one thing to laugh about on a daily basis (oftentimes myself). I generally try to not take myself or life too seriously...

I am looking for someone who is independent – she could be on her own, but just chooses not to be. She would be smart, emotionally stable, caring, loving, and understanding. Hopefully she can laugh at some of my silly jokes. She should be curious about life and want to experience new things. Someone who challenges me intellectually – makes me think and grow and makes me want to become a better person. I’m the type of person that does need some time to myself, but at the same time I tend to be pretty affectionate when I’m in a relationship and I enjoy holding hands and cuddling.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'd say my easy going attitude and my laugh.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Food: Pizza, sushi, med-rare steak, Persian/Middle Eastern, Hot Wings, Italian... okay - so I could go on all day with this list - I love food and trying new cuisines and restaurants

Beer (deserves its own category): Sam Adams, Sweetwater 420 and Blue, Guinness, Blue Moon, any German hefeweizen

Music: Mostly Rock and "Alternative" (never understood what the hell that label was supposed to mean) Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Stone Temple Pilots, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Green Day, U2, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, Candlebox, and most "old school" 80s metal like Guns N Roses.... Love going to concerts - watching people make music has always been mesmerizing to me.

Movies: Pulp Fiction, American Beauty, Fight Club, When Harry Met Sally, Office Space, Almost Famous, Goodfellas, The Departed, Lost in Translation, Shawshank Redemption, Amelie, Big Fish, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind... anything from small independent movies, foreign films and documentaries to big dumb summer popcorn flicks -- I am a total movie slut :-), but I really enjoy things that are quirky and different and a little less "Hollywood". I couldn't live without my Netflix subscription.

The six things I could never do without

Computer - what would I do without Wikipedia?
Movies - the great ones make you feel and think
Music - never understood people that aren't into it
Love - sometimes it hurts but it's worth it
Laughter - life's too short to be too serious
Guitar - it's fun and challenging, brings out my artistic side and makes me feel less like a nerd :-)

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends... probably having a beer or two and laughing about something.
