My Notes edit
My self-summary
So I got dragged into this site by a friend who insists that I should be meeting more girls.
I'm originally from San Jose and have gone to school in San Francisco and now Sacramento where its much cheaper to live. I was born in America and raised in Japan and brought back in enough time to finish up 5th grade here.
I still frequent San Jose and San Francisco as often as I can.
I'm geek of sorts, but I try to not let that interfere in other aspects of my life unless it benefits me.
I really wonder about those personality awards. I don't think they match all too well nor are they all too convincing. I'm a laid back person, but I don't think I'm nearly as bland as those personality awards make me.
12/19 - Oh, how nice it is to be in San Jose again and around family.
What I'm doing with my life
Haven't quite decided what I'm doing after I get my degree. I'll probably take a year off to work and line my pockets with money again. I do hope to get a MM in music and haven't quite decided specifically what in music. Maybe composition or choral conducting. I wouldn't mind teaching music at the college level.
I'm rebuilding my life out in Sacramento having moved four times since summer of 2007. Making friends and earning some references to jobs and whatnot.
I'm really good at
Cooking because if it wasn't music, I may have gone to culinary school and I do take pride in how well I can cook.
Music: I'm currently most acquainted with voice. I'm a baritone voice and I'm on my 5th year of studying it. I used to play String Bass, Cello, and Percussion but that was all several years ago and I'm probably not nearly as good as I used to be.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
Oh and my mock Asian accent, its a great for a good laugh.
Also that I'm pretty reserved at first, but that seems to change with either comfort level with whoever I'm hanging out with or a beer... or two...
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
The Shawshank Redemption, The Pianist, The Goonies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Boondock Saints, Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Thirteen, Twin Warriors, Fight Club, Fearless, Hero, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", V for Vendetta, I am Legend, Grumpy Old Men, Grumpier Old Men
I'm pretty open to many different kinds of music. I end up listening to lots of different things being a composition major. But seriously, if you look at my itunes library, most everyone I know has added to it somehow so it isn't all of my choices, but I listen to it all for the variety. Pandora is the win, by the way. I've been recently listening to a fair amount of Japanese music as I'm getting reacquainted with the language so I may be able to include it in my compositions. Let me throw out some stuff here so you know kinda what I like:
Akeboshi, Andy McKee, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Bobby McFerrin, Coldplay, Danny Elfman, Death Cab for Cutie, Ella Fitzgerald, Eric Whitacre, Flight of the Conchords, Hans Zimmer, High and Mighty Color, Home Made 家族, いきものがかり, Imogen Heap, Joe Hisaishi, The Killers, The Postal Service, The Real Group, Tiësto, UVERworld, Yukimi Nagano...
Food
Sushi - anything Japanese, Pho, Pasta, Curry, Dim Sum
Quite frankly though, I've never said, "no" to any food really.
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
If I'm in SJ, I'll probably be out at a bar or a friend's place for a few hours with friends, or playing Texas Hold 'em with a bunch of my Viet friends, or at home browsin' the interwebs.
If I'm in SF, I'll probably be out at the Dirty Martini or some other karaoke bar with bunch of my musician friends from SFSU, or at a performance, or walkin' the streets finding something to do.
If I'm Sac, I'm probably at home playing online games with my roommate or in a performance or watching a performance or hanging out with friends.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
So in that regard... most things I know aren't private unless I've been sworn to secrecy in which I would probably tell you that I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you.
You should message me if
If you have an interest in music...
If you are random and have an awesome sense of humor...
And even if you don't have the stuff above just message me anyway... May take me a bit to msg back, I usually chill out on Facebook...
