just moved to New Haven from Chi-town for school, hopefully to end
up teaching. I'm a terrible dork but I come alive at cocktail
parties (or really any event involving cocktails - I'm not picky).
I look good in jeans, but better in tweed, and I've successfully

My self-summary
What I'm doing with my life
Right now, I'm working on a law degree, but next year I start grad
school in Classics. I'm writing on Roman law, and the dichotomy
between social and rational modes of thinking in the construction
of Roman legal realities. I'm fairly confident that all of those
words are real.
I'm really good at
I'm a pretty competent cook, if I say so myself, and according to
my friends I can be rather amusing. I'm a good listener, and I can
translate Latin faster than a speeding bullet; to be fair, bullets
usually prefer Greek. Also, I have a remarkable talent for Taboo -
i'm definitely the guy you want in the trenches with you on Game
Night.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
My favorite book of all time is The Secret History, by Donna Tartt.
I've bought four copies, and I've given them all away to people who
ended up loving them. I'll read anything by Zadie Smith, Murakami or Faulkner, and Borges is always a hoot.
I'm not really a movie guy, but I have a soft spot in my heart for anyone who loves Psycho Beach Party as much as I do. It stars Lauren Ambrose as a surfer chick who might be a serial killer - what more could one want?
My favorite food is probably anything I cook; you haven't lived until you've tasted my pesto. Beyond that, I'm always down for pizza, or sushi if there's a good place around here (currently pessimistic, but I'm always willing to be proven wrong).
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Los Campesinos!, Goldfrapp, Bjork.... basically, I'm a sucker for crying people from countries with socialized medicine.

On a typical Friday night I am
out with a few friends, nothing too drastic - I love hanging out
and watching horrible television, followed by cruel jokes about
Sarah Palin. Still. We're really very unforgiving people.
