My Self-Summary

I am a born and raised New Yorker and have returned to the city after graduating from Vassar College in May. There, I was an American Culture major studying the public school system and the prison system (both separately and how the two are interrelated). I love hanging out with my friends, watching crappy TV, and I'm coming around on watching sports (living with guys has forced me to this point). I played Varsity basketball and softball in high school, and although I didn't continue into college, I do enjoy playing casual games of both.

What I’m doing with my life

I am applying to graduate school for social work for the Fall of 2010, and in the meantime I am working as a school aide at an elementary school in the west village (where I went to elementary school) and babysitting/nannying. I took the year off as a break from school but it turns out working two jobs is pretty damn stressful too, haha.

The first things people usually notice about me

To be perfectly honest, most people comment on my large hoop earrings (not sure how I should interpret that).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love pretty much all types of food. I can list only a handful of foods I don't like (raw mushrooms, chopped liver, and a few others).

As for movies, I love documentaries about pretty much anything. And I like all kinds of movies (I love watching horror movies and getting scared, although I can really freak myself out afterwards).

I just read a really great book of short stories called Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri.

In terms of music, I like a bunch of genres but mostly listen to hip hop and pop
