I am passionate, adventurous, and relaxed.

My Self-Summary

I love listening to This American Life. I save up podcasts and on the days I decide to spend in bed, I'll listen to as many as I can get in before feeling too guilty about spending a whole day inside.
I love Port Townsend. It's exactly the kind of small town I'd like to end up in. Small independent, fair trade coffee shops. A record shop where I can rummage through old vinyl for hours. An old pub with a view of the Sound, amazing seafood and my favorite beer. I can walk or bike everywhere and I'm just a short, scenic drive and a ferry ride to Seattle and my family.
I am obsessed with music; music history, music engineering, music listening. I have degrees in both music history and music engineering and would like to think that, by now, I have the equivalent to what would be a doctorate in listening to music. Not that I'm an expert or anything...I just really love it. I have a pretty big record collection. Most of it is from my father's collection he had when he was a teenager and a few from when my grandma was young, but I've spent a small fortune on anything and everything that catches my eye.
I've played soccer pretty seriously since I was able to walk. I love hiking, camping, and kayaking...pretty much anything that has to do with being outside. I practice yoga almost everyday and try to meditate as long as the chatter will let me.
I love the smell of pears and basil and I love the fact that there is a word for the way it smells after it rains (Petrichor)...but what Seattlite wouldn't love that word?
For the most part I try not to take myself or life too seriously.

What I’m doing with my life

Just trying to figure out how to stay happy. I think I might be onto something too. I wouldn't mind living a simpler life. I love the city and want to be close to it, but after a few more years of school and a few more years of paying off my student loans, I'll move to a small town and buy a small house and build a small garden. I can imagine waking up on Sundays, putting on my robe and my favorite album, lighting some Nag and relaxing.

I’m really good at

moving from hobby to hobby. I love having hobbies and learning new things but after I get somewhat proficient at something I tend to move on to something else. For instance, I taught myself how to knit and have half a dozen incomplete but nicely knitted scarves. Other hobbies I've started: candle-making, baking, arts and crafts, photography, blogging, and a small jaunt with Buddhism...

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm shy when I'm in public by myself. I love being around people, but I clam up when they try to talk to me...my mind goes completely blank.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything by Tom Robbins, Wally Lamb, Herman Hesse, David Sedaris, Jerry Spinelli, Paulo Coelho, Richard Grant, JK Rowling, or Gloria Naylor. I also really love Gilead, The Last Summer of Reason, Letters To A Young Poet, Blink, The Brain That Changes Itself, Hero

Movies/TV shows: Amelie, Once, Ong Bak, Almost Famous, It's A Wonderful Life, Louis CK Stand Up, The Guild, It's Always Sunny, Freaks and Geeks, anything on the Discovery Channel or History Channel, Animal Planet!!!
