My self-summary
Hey Everyone!!

My name's Nathan. I'm living in the city now after four years of college in North Jersey (I was born and raised in Rhode Island). I majored in Education and History (with Poly Sci and Women/ Gender Studies minors), and that's where most of my interests are.

I like to think that I am a very honest and genuine person; what you see is what you get. I can also be a pretty big nerd sometimes, especially if I am talking about a topic that I love! I am a poster Virgo, so if you really want to get a quick analysis of me, just Google that.

I really like it when someone is intelligent, driven, genuine, and able to make me laugh. Personality is big for me, and being able to hold a conversation and keep me interested is really important.

I love to try new things and meet new people, which works out well because there's always something exciting to do in NYC!
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I am a high school Economics/ History teacher in the Bronx. Even though my job requires a lot of time and energy, I also like to go out and have fun being 22 as much as I can.

I am also working on my Masters at Fordham Lincoln Center, and I plan on moving to DC some time in the near future to get into politics.
I’m really good at
I can read people really well, and I'm really good at keeping a level head. I also know a lot of random trivia, especially involving any kind of history/political/geography type topic.

Being the Ice Climbers and still managing to almost always win in Super Smash Brothers.

Polishing off large portions of food at restaurants. I don't really do doggy bags....
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes, especially if I'm wearing something blue. People also seem to notice that I look Irish or German.... which is funny because I'm neither.

Once people know me, they they tend to notice that I am very direct, and usually point out one of my many "weird" quirks. I think they're normal, but I guess sometimes not so much.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Harry Potter 1-7, The Hunger Games Series, Middlesex, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Giver, The Great Gatsby, Living History. I tend to stick with the classics, but if it looks good to me then I'll pick it up.

Movies: Billy Elliot, Remember the Titans, Crash, Slumdog Millionaire, Inception, Grease, Home Alone 1 + 2, Any Horror/Gorey movie, Latter Days, not Will Ferrell movies. I like most documentaries, and chick-flicks can always be good (depending on the cheesiness). I always have a hard time with this question because I never remember all the good movies that I've seen, but there's more I promise!

TV:Law and Order SVU, Family Guy, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Amazing Race, Golden Girls, Friends, RHWONJ, Will and Grace, Full House, The West Wing, Shameless, True Life, Glee, Wifeswap, Friends, 1G5G, Gameshows, Political News Shows

Music: I really wish I had a more sophisticated taste in music, but I pretty much will listen to everything besides screamo-rock. Mostly Hip Hop and Top 40 though. I'm more of a song by song person, but I really like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, and stuff like that. Anything I can dance to is good enough for me. My friends have recently turned me on to more rock sounding stuff as well, which is pretty good.

Food: I really like to eat healthy, but other than that I am not picky at all; I'll eat anything. I really like Italian, Japanese, and Mexican food, and I love to try new things. I don't eat red meat or pork. I am also a huge fan of mixing random or seemingly unrelated things together.
The six things I could never do without
1. Family/Friends
2. Time to think/ relax
3. Cell phone
4. Music
5. Tostitos and salsa
6. Access to news, whatever the type (cable, papers, etc..)

*chapstick deserves at least an honorable mention*
I spend a lot of time thinking about
EVERYTHING!! I tend to (over) analyze things (a prime example of my Virgo-ness). Mostly about my future and family/ friends. I also think about a lot of the heavy social and political topics, so it's always a good time in my head.
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying to have a good time with my awesome group of friends. Like everyone it can either be out or in, depending on our moods. One of the surprisingly fun things to make a Friday awesome is to watch Sharktank and What Would You Do (highly recommended).

Since I moved to the city I've been trying to go out more and find awesome places. Suggestions are always welcome!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Nice try...

Ok, I'll give you something. I still miss my favorite green winter coat I had when I was 10. My Mom made me get rid of it (*read: donated it to charity when I wasn't home*). RIP.
