My Self-Summary

I'm not a fan of summaries, in general, but I suppose I have to write one anyway....

Hi, I'm Jamie. I recently graduated from college, where I double-majored in math and physics. I love to sing, act, and occasionally dance. I'm what some people, myself included, would call a geek (I've LARPed with the winner of the most recent season of "Beauty and the Geek"). I'm a fan of honesty, most varieties of rock, metal, and house music, science fiction and fantasy in any medium, and love.

If you want to know more about me than you find in this gods-forsaken profile, strike up a conversation.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm honestly not sure where I'm headed, ultimately. I'm currently working as a developer for a healthcare-related software company. Part of me eventually wants to go to graduate school, probably either in some type of theoretical or computational physics or in algebraic topology. After that, who knows.

I’m really good at

Hugging (and knowing when someone needs a hug), anything mathematical, writing and running LARPs (apparently), confusing people (with or without intent, and giving backrubs.

The first things people usually notice about me

The most popular choices: my height, my hair, my very expressive face, or a bout of boisterous laughter (my evil laugh is not to be scoffed at).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(A) The Foundation series by Isaac Asimov, the Dune series by Frank Herbert, The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin, the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, the Hitchhiker's Guide series by Douglas Adams [notice the pattern yet?], Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Contact by Carl Sagan, anything by Jorge Luis Borges, Neverwhere and American Gods by Neil Gaiman (need to read more by him!)

(B) Donnie Darko, The Matrix [and parts of the sequels], the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Star Wars trilogy [not including the apocryphal prequels], the SciFi channel's version of the Dune trilogy, Fight Club, Memento, anything with a good mindfuck or twist

(C) A Perfect Circle, Apocalyptica, Barenaked Ladies, the Beatles, Billy Joel, the Black Mages, Blind Guardian, Blue Man Group, Boa, Breaking Benjamin, Bush, Counting Crows, CSNY, da Vinci's Notebook, Danny Elfman, David Gray, Days of the New, Devin Townsend, Dishwalla, Disturbed, Don Davis, Dream Theater, Edwin McCain, Evanescence, Foo Fighters, Frou Frou, Fuel, Gin Blossoms, Godsmack, Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, Guns 'n Roses, Guster, Hootie & the Blowfish, Howard Shore, In Flames, Incubus, James Taylor, Jimmy Eat World, John Williams, Juno Reactor, Kansas, The King's Singers, Klaus Badelt, Lacuna Coil, Led Zeppelin, Liquid Tension Experiment, Loreena McKennitt, Los Lonely Boys, Metallica, Michelle Branch, Mozart, Natalie Imbruglia, Origa, Our Lady Peace, PDQ Bach, Peter Gabriel, Phish, Pinback, Pink Floyd, Poxy Boggards, Primus, Queen, Queensrche, R.E.M., Ra, Rachmaninoff, Radiohead, Rammstein, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Reel Big Fish, RENT, Rhapsody, Rob Dougan, Rockapella, Rusted Root, Simon & Garfunkel, Ska-P, Smashing Pumpkins, the Smiths, SR-71, Stabbing Westward, Staind, Stephen Sondheim, Strapping Young Lad, Styx, Symphony X, System of a Down, Tantric, Tonic, Tool, the Verve Pipe, Yoko Kanno. This is an abbreviated list. I might update it later and add more. No, really. I love music.

(D) lasagna, Cinnamon Life cereal, "Annie's" roast beef sandwich from Neon Deli, most anything involving cinnamon

The six things I could never do without

In no particular order: My friends, physical human contact, a computer, something to think about, good music, randomness

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Whether or not I am a good (worthy?) human being, love, my future, physics and the underlying nature of the universe, sex, other people's opinions of me. The list goes on.

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually hanging out with friends in one form or another. Sometimes a couple drinks are involved, sometimes a movie, sometimes simply random activities and conversation.

Well, at least, that used to be the case until I graduated college... That's part of why I'm here, I guess. I need something to do on weekends...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I like Broadway musicals, roleplaying games, and good anime. I am a geek, and I am proud.

Also: I'm willing to admit here that I'm willing to admit elsewhere nearly anything about which you're willing to ask.

Well? I'm waiting.

You should message me if

You've read most to all of the above, and you want to ask me about something or say something. Or if you feel like it.

Oh, and if you don't have time to write a real message (or are too shy; I know, I've been there), don't feel guilty about just sending a quick "hello" or a Woo; I'm one of the few people, apparently, who doesn't find them annoying. Just please eventually tell me why you messaged me...

Also, if you prefer to converse with me over an IM client slightly more reliable than that of this site, I'm on AIM most times of day at screen name Lesioul72.
